jkramer 12 Posted February 25, 2021 Posted February 25, 2021 (edited) I've noticed this ever since I started with Emby a year or 2 ago. Since this genre interests me a great deal I've been searching and trying to figure out if it's simply not considered a "main" genre that Emby automatically populates or if it's my metadata (or lack thereof). So, any ideas? Links are great, kind of even embarrassed to ask since several searches really showed nothing, so I'll assume it's something peculiar to my files or setup. If this is the wrong forum feel free to move to the proper one mods. Thanks! Edited February 25, 2021 by jkramer Can't speel.

jkramer 12 Posted February 25, 2021 Author Posted February 25, 2021 Re-installed emby server an hour ago, be a bit before it's done setting up the movies. Previously it only recognized 1 movie as Noir, I have at least 40. All other genres seemed fine. I'll get back when the server is finished redoing all the goodies.
Luke 42090 Posted February 26, 2021 Posted February 26, 2021 Hi there, can you please go over an example? Thanks.
jkramer 12 Posted February 26, 2021 Author Posted February 26, 2021 OK, I think I see what I need to do here. It appears over the years the genre metadata in some older files got whacked somehow leaving me with no film noir genre metadata in the files. So, what I really need here is an app that can go through my entire movie library and reassign the proper genres based on the already proper Emby file names. I guess I assumed Emby did this when they were added? Asking, doesn't seem like it works that way. Free or paid app is fine, I don't see any plugins for Emby that quite fit the bill.

If Refresh Metadata>Replace all metadata doesn't fill those Noir genres, I reckon no plugin will, you'll have to add them manually. 1
Solution pwhodges 2014 Posted February 26, 2021 Solution Posted February 26, 2021 Have you actually checked that the metadata providers have that genre specified for the movies you expect? Paul 1

Paul Yea, this appears to be the issue. Looks like the "Crime" genre is pretty close to what I'm looking for. Thanks for your input everyone! 1
