th83 1 Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 I have had this happen now on 2 PCs (W7 x64), after installing ServerWMC and MB3, I have occasional crashes in WMC, seemingly at random. I have had it crash during live TV, recorded TV, and while watching locally stored video files. I had zero issues before installing MB3. Anyone else seen this, and if so, is there a known fix? For now I'm going to uninstall both products to see that will make WMC stable again, which is a shame because the software is great aside from that.
ebr 16184 Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 I would start out by providing information on the crash. See: How to report a problem Pay particular attention to the information in there about how to find the error in the Windows event log. Then, the first step might be to not install ServerWMC and see what happens.
th83 1 Posted August 13, 2014 Author Posted August 13, 2014 I removed everything and reinstalled fresh, all is working fine now. Interestingly enough, when WMC would crash, nothing was recorded to the Windows Event Log.
Solution th83 1 Posted August 27, 2014 Author Solution Posted August 27, 2014 Update on this, the issue came back, but I tracked it back to a GeForce 730 card that I had recently installed. Apparently these cards in conjunction with the GeForce drivers cause a handles leak in the ehshell.exe process (only when watching 29/59 content), eventually causing a crash of WMC. I have submitted a bug report to NVidia. 1
christoph86 12 Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 I've been having this same issue as well the past couple of weeks. I have a nvidia 640 gt. Did you roll back driver?
