casminkey 19 Posted November 14, 2020 Posted November 14, 2020 I'm moving my music from Google Play into Emby but seems to be a lot of inconsistancies with how the metadata is being categorized. I set the tags up before importing them, then renamed the folders to match - artist\album\track - title. For the most part, this is fine. Except this: Here's an artist but all of the songs are listed under one album. Here's the folder structure: and MP3 tags: Any ideas to get these setup in the correct albums? I got 500+ songs from this artist and would rather not go song by song manually editing the metadata.
casminkey 19 Posted November 14, 2020 Author Posted November 14, 2020 Oh, forgot to mention that the album shows correctly looking at the metadata of the individual song:
Solution Happy2Play 9783 Posted November 14, 2020 Solution Posted November 14, 2020 Do you have loose tracks within the said artist folder? Loose track change artist level to a album.
casminkey 19 Posted November 14, 2020 Author Posted November 14, 2020 Right on. That was an easy fix!! Thanks, pal! 1
kaledi 41 Posted January 19, 2021 Posted January 19, 2021 I've had the same problem. I've removed the loose track from the artists root folder but when I do a folder rescan it does not solve the problem. Am I able to have multiple layers within an artist folder. for example a folder with a group of albums, and then in the root folder all the other albums. So Artist > album1 Artist > album2 Artist > group>album3 Artist > group>album4 Also, is there currently a way to group albums that are spread across multiple discs and have metadata for disc number into one album?
Maisy 37 Posted January 19, 2021 Posted January 19, 2021 I have had to move all the files for multi-CD's into one folder for said album, as long as each file has disc info, they show up in correct order with disc number separation on the album page.
kaledi 41 Posted January 19, 2021 Posted January 19, 2021 OK- answered the question myself, you cannot embedd albums the way I wanted. No worries. Just not used EMBY for music before

I did as you suggested with one of the multi disc albums and each disc still has it's own entry into the list of albums. Not sure what I'm doing incorrectly
Happy2Play 9783 Posted January 19, 2021 Posted January 19, 2021 (edited) This will all change in 4.6 and be tag dependent so folder structure becomes irrelevant. So the catch will be embedded metadata instead of structure. Edited January 19, 2021 by Happy2Play
