Scottieboi 8 Posted October 19, 2020 Posted October 19, 2020 So I added a new device the other night and it wouldn't accept the pin, no big issue, however after that I tried to connect to emby via my tv and was forced to go through some annoying sign in issues, again, no big issue just took some time to get access. Now I try login on my pc that has the server installed and after I sign in I get the server screen but with no server to select and the option to use connect, I have tried connect a few times and re-entered credentials and in each case it's the very same problem, no server to select, but that isn't the really strange part, I am connected, I can play all content via tv/s and tablets that I added before, I even have access via this laptop on an open page (I rarely exit my browser) but when I open a new page to the dashboard, I get the login page. I have added screens of the open page with full access as for the login screen I click on connect and it opens the second login page, I enter my details and it returns to the first login area with no server to select, this happens on both my laptop and the PC where the server is installed.
Scottieboi 8 Posted October 19, 2020 Author Posted October 19, 2020 I finally managed to get it working by adding the IP manually, strange that it showed no server but it worked eventually. could it be a vpn issue?
Carlo 4561 Posted October 19, 2020 Posted October 19, 2020 Hi, Yes most certainly could be VPN related. Why use Emby Connect on your home network in the first place? Even in the web browser on the server itself it appears you're using Emby Connect.
Scottieboi 8 Posted October 19, 2020 Author Posted October 19, 2020 Thanks for the reply but I already said why I was using connect, using my user name and password returned me to the server page with NO server's listed. In effect it was saying there was no current server to connect to. I believe it to be a VPN issue, I have been googling vpn issues and there are some cases that are similar. Thanks for the answer
Carlo 4561 Posted October 19, 2020 Posted October 19, 2020 So with the VPN running and you right click on the Emby icon down in the task bar and then choose "Browse Library" it goes to a different page on the server?

Is it possible that, during your "login issues" mentioned above, you deleted your server from this list? That would make it go away and you would have to re-connect your Connect ID in the server user panel to get it back.

No, there were no server/s listed period just as the screen shows, I have been chasing down possible vpn issues and it would appear that it is in fact the vpn causing the issue. On my home network I entered the IP and it then showed the server. So the problem has been resolved but it still puzzles me how a VPN could cause the problem, I have been using VPN's on all my devices for years, never seen or heard of this before, but like I said problem resolved and I have full access and control again. thanks for the reply Edited October 20, 2020 by Scottieboi 1
