bernsy 3 Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 Hey guys! So, this could be simple and im just not getting it but i set everything up for remote connection, set port forward and everything and it works wonderfully when my server is On using a Wireless connection. When i plug in the network cable to the computer and my connection becomes wired everything works great in LAN but i cant connect remotely. What am im missing here? Is this because im using a Passthrough Powerline for my wired connection? Its a TP-link AV 600 btw
Solution Carlo 4561 Posted October 13, 2020 Solution Posted October 13, 2020 If this is your server going from wired to wireless you're getting a new IP on the device and then most likely your router is pointing to the wrong IP address. So you would want to switch the IP in your port forwarding.
bernsy 3 Posted October 13, 2020 Author Posted October 13, 2020 (edited) Yes, you are both right.... so simple Thank you so much! Might be a dumb question but i assume there's no way to have the port forwarding for both IP's at the same time right? Edited October 13, 2020 by bernsy
Carlo 4561 Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 If you adjust your router to allow UPnP then Emby can automatically do your port mapping and could change this on the fly but lots of routers implement this poorly so it's hit or miss. You're best best is to test both wireless and wired to find what works best with 3 or 4 connections at the same time and make that your standard and just setup Emby to ONLY use that.
