habanerocat 0 Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 Hi, I'm running Emby on a NAS server and playing my media using an Nvidia Shield. I have a problem similar to this: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/79862-tv-episode-playback-vs-movie-playback/ except the Video/Audio/Subtitle sub menu appears in my "Movie" folder but not in my "TV Series" folder. I've the same problem playing media from my PC. I am dependant on subtitles. I know I can select the subtitle after but I had so many subtitle problems with Plex that I switched over to Emby hoping it would be better. It was working fine for a few weeks now, so I don't understand how or why it changed. I tried to delete Emby from my Shield and reload it, but of course, probably due to the impending payment, it reloaded with all the same settings and the problem persists. Perhaps I need to reload the server on my NAS, but I presume I'd have the same problems there. Any ideas what has changed?
Solution pwhodges 2012 Posted August 15, 2020 Solution Posted August 15, 2020 It's not in the TV Series page as the selection is made per episode. Look to the right of each episode in the list and you will see a (i) symbol - click that to get the information page for the episode where you can pre-select the required audio and video (which will be remembered as the default for future plays of that episode). You can, of course, also select them while playing from the icons under the timeline. Paul
habanerocat 0 Posted August 15, 2020 Author Posted August 15, 2020 Ah, that's great. Fair play! I lost the Emby icon after the reload so I was going in through the "Next Up" sub-menu, where of course everything was fine. I've got the icon back now and everything is ok again. So there was probably nothing wrong to start with. Although I did do the reload as a last resort. I'd just like to add that so far Emby looks way superior to Plex. I made a bad choice to start with. The problem I had communicating with the server after the constant updates was unreal. Thanks again...........
