Issue with one specific Local Trailer

I have been populating my movie library with Local Trailers for that Cinema experience, but have an issue with one particular movie.  That movie is The Long, Long Trailer:

https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/24518-the-long-long-trailer

I have the folder and files all named properly, as such:

  • Movies
    • The Long, Long Trailer (1954)
      • The Long, Long Trailer (1954) [WEBDL-720p].mp4
      • The Long, Long Trailer (1954) [WEBDL-720p].nfo
      • The Long, Long Trailer (1954)-trailer.mkv

The problem is, Emby appears to be seeing that trailer file as a separate movie, and so for just this one movie in my collection it shows up twice.  If I play the real entry for the movie, the movie plays.  If I play the trailer entry for the movie, the trailer plays.  Both have a 'trailer' icon on their movie pages, and pressing that plays the trailer file.  I assume this is because of the existence of the word 'trailer' in the movie title?  Or did I do something wrong in the naming?  There is a second .nfo file in that folder too, for the trailer's metadata.

humor me and try this:

Movies

  • The Long, Long Trailer (1954)
    • The Long, Long Trailer (1954).mp4
    • The Long, Long Trailer (1954) - trailer.mkv

Remove the NFO and rename the movie removing the type info in brackets.  make sure it's " - " and not "-" before trailer (space in front and back of dash).

Refresh library.

Did that fix your issue?

Yes I get the same results as OP.  Giving the media no names worked.  So it would appear to be something specific to the name.

  • The Long, Long Trailer (1954)
    • movie.mp4
    • movie-trailer.mkv

Also using a trailers folder worked properly also.

  • The Long, Long Trailer (1954)
    • The Long, Long Trailer (1954).mp4
    • trailers
      • The Long, Long Trailer (1954)-trailer.mkv

Yea, I bet the word "Trailer" in the titles mucks things up somehow.

Anyway try this.  It works for me

Movies

  • The Long, Long Trailer (1954)
    • The Long, Long Trailer (1954) [WEBDL-720p].mp4
    • trailers
      • The Long, Long Trailer (1954)-trailer.mkv

Unfortunately not.  I also tried adding the type info to the trailer so that everything in its filename would match the movie with the exception of the 'trailer' tag and file extension, and that didn't work either.

Thanks for checking, I think I'll use the subfolder option for this file as I don't want to lose that info in the file name.  Would be nice if there was a real fix for this so that I can keep my library consistent.  I populated these trailers with a script, so I know if I re-run that script it'll probably plop that file in the movie folder again.

I've got a sneaky suspicion it's because of the word "Trailer" in the actual movie name AT THE END of the title that might be the cause.

I tried "Trailer Park Boys The Movie (2006)" but had zero issues with this.  I can't think of any other MOVIE with "trailer" in the name to test with. :(

Yep test with "MGM Christmas Trailer (1937)" with same results.

But you can query TMDB for other examples
