Synology DS120j and emby

I am considering to get a  Synology box and wonder if this forum has any do's and dont's in particular for  Synology DS120j option?

 

Main point of consideration - compatibility with Emby server.

Will you be playing any 4K movies or do any transcoding?  If so, then I wouldn't.  You should be looking at something with an Intel processor if so.

When I was selecting mine I found YouTube videos mentioned suitability for/against different models for transcoding.

 

Personally I feel a NAS is like any other hardware investment, you get back reliability with sound investment.

I ended up buying a DS918+ but at the moment it just does file sharing. I do my server stuff off a separate "server":

Here is a list of Synology NAS with their processors.  At a minimum I would recommend getting the best one with an Intel processor you can afford.   If you don't have 4K the combination of va-api and the Intel processor should be enough for your transcoding needs
