Converting files on Emby

I am with EMBY since Windows Media Center days and recently made a new server I have the latest Version 4.4.2.0. but have over 700 DVD movies (VTS) on the server the thing is now that I am viewing it from my smart TVs rather than a HTPC with Media Center I am having an issue with the VTS the movie folders have VTS_01_1, VTS_01_02, and so on depending on the size of the movie file when I play it only the first VTS_01_1 plays then it stops playing, I tried using MKV Tool Nix to put it in a MKV container file and it work and is very fast but there are two problems

1. if the original movie was 4G when I get it in MKV its about 9 or 10G which is killing a lot of space.

2. To do that for over 700 DVD files is killing a lot of time.

I tried using the converter in EMBY so that it can be done automatically but when I do that it only converts the VTS_01_1 and thats it.

Is there a way for me to get EMBY to convert the entire movie which is mostly 4 to 6 separate VTS files.

Or is there a different way I can get these DVD files to play on EMBY.

I am a little slow on the uptake when it comes to these things so the more details the better.

Hi, that doesn't sound right to me. It sounds like the movie is getting copied twice into the output mkv. @@Abobader may have some tips as he did this a long time ago.

As much as I would love to promote our features, our conversion of dvd rolder rips is only experimental. That includes both playback transcoding as well as the conversion feature. You'll have better results with MakeMKV.

To the best of my knowledge it is not being copied twice, the output is one file.

I just downloaded MakeMKV at first glance it seems great I just converted a Movie and it was very fast everything seems on point and the output file is the same size as the source which is what I need, I am going to watch the movie later on Emby to insure the quality is good and there is no issues before I start to work on the rest.

Getting them converted on Emby would have been better as I could have them done automatically instead of doing 1 movie at a time but this is better than what I had so Thank you so much. With me being home because of this Covid 19 thing I have some time on my hands so MakeMKV here I come.

Thanks Luke, MakeMKV is the best, I viewed the movie I converted and there is no issues. it takes less than a minute to convert most DVD movie folders and the output  file is the same size as the source so it solved both of the issues I had.
