Chapter explanation

Hi all - sorry if this has been covered - I'm sure it has but I'm still confused!!

 

Using Emby on my Nvidia Shield, when I click a movie on the details page it has all the chapters with names (but no chapter pictures). However, using Emby on my iOS devices or through a web browser you cannot see chapters and are not able to select them like you can on the Shield. 

 

I have seen many threads mention the "Enable thumbnail image creation" option with regards to chapters. As you can see, I do not have any of these selected. I don't care about having a chapter image, I just want to be able to select the chapters, like I can on the Shield and on 3rd party players like VLC. Is the humbnail image creation the only way to get simple chapters to appear?

 

Is there something different on the Shield app or am I missing something, can I get the chapter list to appear on iOS and Windows without running that slow thumbnail process like it does on the Shield? I have attached a screenshot from my Shield showing chapters, and one from my iOS with no chapters.

Have you run the Extract thumbnail images scheduled task lately?

Hi.   Yes, some of the apps hide the chapters if there are no images.  The Android TV app was initially developed not to do that for this very reason - the image isn't really the important data.  For best results across the system, you will need to create images for your chapters.
