Hey guys. Can someone help me out with where to grab a file that Emby WILL transcode that is h.264? The reason I ask is that I have been doing testing to pass a video card to a container (LXC) within Proxmox that will hardware decode in Emby. The card is just a GTX670 that I wanted to try with before buying something that will do h.265. I have gotten to the point that I can see the card in Emby but I haven't found anything with h.264 compliance that any of my clients won't just direct stream. It is a great problem to have for sure but I would really like to see some proof that Emby will call the video card for transcodes before buying a GTX 1660 or something.

My clients I can test with are:

Essential Phone

Xbox One (not X)

AppleTV 4

I have tried throwing files at these clients with idx/subs, I have tried throwing the largest h264 files I can find. Nothing will transcode to these clients. Something must have gotten better with the Xbox One as I actually kinda put it in storage in favor of the AppleTV 4 as I remember it always used to need to transcode EVERYTHING it seemed. Now it's a direct streaming beast.

I tried one h.265 file for funsies and of course Emby was just trying to transcode that through the CPU which makes sense.

Just drop the bitrate, below the native bitrate of the video, in one of the apps and that will force it to Transcode any/all media
