Live TV and M3U Deletion

I have deleted my m3u and xmltv files and restarted emby.

Why do all the channels and epg data remain in emby?

Make sure you actually removed them from Emby as well, and then refreshed the guide data in Emby Server.

Cheers, should have thought of that.

Refresh of the guide data fixed it.

Hey Luke - what do you mean by this ?  I am having the exact same problem - having added and then removed several M3U tuners - I have now removed them and the attached xmltv epg data.  I have exactly no tuners and no XTMLTV EPG - but have trashed the Live TV as all the channels still show.  I have refreshed the non-existent TV Guide Data Providers.  Just can not see what else to do - how do I get rid of the now orphan channels ?

Unfortunately because I was messing with M3U and I checked out a worldwide list - along with the simplicity of setting Emby up I have managed to load up 5675 channels !!

So would love to clean this out - how do I do it ?

What plugins have you installed?

I have a pretty simple PlugIn set.  I have had DLNA and NextPVR installed in the past - but not for a while.  I also had connected to NextPVR via it's M3U functionality (running it via tuner so I could have Emby handling the XTMLTV EPG) - but removed this tuner (and EPG) as in the previous post.  Yet ... all the channels remain from either that or the other tuners I have since removed.  I have had this trouble with Emby previously now I think about it - and last time I did a complete uninstall and reinstall of it to get it sorted.  But - a pretty drastic move.  NextPVR responds immediately when you remove M3U's and removes channels - it seems Emby is caching and not clearing it's cache when a tuner is removed ?

Did you run the refresh guide scheduled task?

Yes - several times both from the Live TV settings and from Scheduled Tasks.  Pretty quick though - I guess given that there’s no actual tuners or epgs set up.

Not sure if this will help or not, but have you tried opening Emby in a different browser or client app, just to make sure that those channels haven't been cached outside of Emby.

Thanks for suggestion - and yes I have.  Two different PCs, one with both Edge and IE, and an iOS/iPhone, and a Samsung Tizen TV.  Seems cached on the server - or not publishing a change out or the clients ?  I found a directory tonight on the server with named cache files in it for TV - and deleted them - but still no effect on the clients - or on the server viewing Emby as a client either for that matter.

I am quite happy to reinstall Emby and leave it doing its thing and it’ll come right.  But - I’m sure I can’t be alone and there must be others with the issue??  I have reinstalled it before when I had the issue, so it can’t be a single broken install I think. NextPVR behaves as expected.  Plex also behaves with my local VBox - but of course Plex is useless when it comes to external M3U feeds - just not possible due to their revised focus on selling content.  I’m all good re reinstalling - but the issue needs looking at I believe.  I’ll mess with m3Us in NextPVR in future - and add to Emby once I’m happy I’ve got the right content!

Previous pics were from two different PCs - below from iOS.

Hmmm - so I just had a thought after my last message.  I added the Vbox M3U tuner back in without an EPG provider.  It then did a ‘proper’ refresh - about 8 steps along the refresh progress bar (guessing) and sat for ages on the last step - I suspect cleaning up the over 5000 orphan channels.  It is now all clear - see pics below one on iOS app and the other within iOS Edge browser - just not near a PC.  This was a much longer refresh.  It seems to me something broke/breaks the refresh process from time to time - I’m not sure of the order of events but it has definitely happened before and I’m betting will happen again.  The refresh before was much to fast - seemingly like a single step.  Thoughts?  Much appreciate your prompt responses through this - unlike the reputation of a competitors board :) !

Just showing the one local tuner set up with no epg provider (if significant).

Since it's something that happened in the past and can't be repeated easily, it's hard to say. Glad you're all sorted out now though. Thanks.

<sarcasm>

You mean you're not happy with the response time or assistance you get over at that other forum?  I'm shocked, shocked I tell you!

Ha @mark-in-dallas - yes - although they were great when they were young in the piece and building it - but their reputation crashed once they commercialised their services around the friggin thing.  Have to say too that their server is a slug transcoding UHD content - whereas Emby is way efficient - of course amongst many other way-better benefits!

Thanks @Luke - if/when it happens again I'll track steps - but it would be great to be able to purge a cache somehow as there seems no way to do this.  It was definitely not refreshing properly by comparison to once I resetup the tuner.

Again - much appreciate trhe responsiveness.
