nmkaufman 50 Posted January 29, 2020 Posted January 29, 2020 (edited) I have no real use for the conversion feature, and stumbled across it by accident while testing HW transcoding to try and help with some of the other threads here. I have two quick questions. 1.) Is there a way to disable the (Original Media Folder, Replacing Original Files) option? 2.) Once I select my options, and click 'convert' I get a 'downloading . . .' notification for ~1 second, and then nothing seems to be happening. There's nothing on the log, and no new transcoding error dumps or anything. It just seems to be doing nothing. I manually ran the convert media scheduled task, and still nothing. I've tried from both the browser, and mobile. Does this only work for certain types of media? I'm on server 4.3.1.0 Scratch #2, fixed with a reboot. Still concerned about #1. Luke 42085 Posted January 29, 2020 Posted January 29, 2020 1.) Is there a way to disable the (Original Media Folder, Replacing Original Files) option? Hi, did you explore the options at the time of setting up the conversion?
nmkaufman 50 Posted January 29, 2020 Author Posted January 29, 2020 Yes, I saw there are 2 different options. I meant, is there a way to disable it, entirely?
Luke 42085 Posted January 29, 2020 Posted January 29, 2020 Sorry I don't quite get what you're asking? Can't you just use the other option?
nmkaufman 50 Posted January 29, 2020 Author Posted January 29, 2020 I'm worried about other users permanently replacing my video files with lower quality conversions. There's a way to disable file deletion, but isn't this equally deleterious?
Solution Luke 42085 Posted January 29, 2020 Solution Posted January 29, 2020 Have you explored user permissions in server settings? 1
nmkaufman 50 Posted January 29, 2020 Author Posted January 29, 2020 I didn't see it, down near the bottom. I'll just disable it entirely. Thank you, once again!
