Server migration

Hi All

I currently have MBS and MBC on one PC (my HTPC) but I'm planning on migrating MBS to a separate server. I know in previous posts you've recommended installing a fresh copy when doing this but I've got a number of metadata customisations that I don't want to lose and have to re-do.

An example of this would be Firefly. I've got them in DVD order by editing the play order in the metadata editor and then locking the series and stopping MBS from updating it. I am assuming that once the HDDs have been moved over to the new server (and therefore the paths change) these changes would get overwritten as the lock status wouldn't exist in the new setup.

Can you suggest a way around this issue? (or have I got my assumptions wrong?)

Thanks

Martin

If you are saving your metadata with your media files, all of that information should be carried over.  A perfect example of one of the reasons why I suggest doing this.

I do have the metadata with the media, it's just that my understanding is that, by default, mbs updates data from the internet unless the item is locked. Is the lock stored in the metadata or is it stored in the config for the installation? If it's in the config, the metadata may get overwritten before I can lock the data. If it's in the metadata I'm sitting pretty! :)

Thanks

The lock status is in the metadata.
