crusher11 1101 Posted December 26, 2019 Posted December 26, 2019 I've added all my movies to my server, although I don't have anywhere near that much hard drive space. So I have a "stubs" folder that only my admin account can access. Cover Art gives everything in this folder the "offline" style. Previously when adding a real file to a movie that was previously a stub, and thus moving it across from the stubs folder to the movies folder, it showed up in latest movies. Lately that hasn't been happening. Has something changed?
Luke 42080 Posted December 26, 2019 Posted December 26, 2019 Hi, have you explored the date added value for this title, as well as your user settings that determine what shows up in latest movies?
crusher11 1101 Posted December 26, 2019 Author Posted December 26, 2019 I never needed to manually adjust metadata previously. I haven't changed any of my settings either.
Luke 42080 Posted December 26, 2019 Posted December 26, 2019 Ok well you're asking why it doesn't show up in latest. The answer lies in one of those two.
crusher11 1101 Posted December 26, 2019 Author Posted December 26, 2019 (edited) Previously it did, now it doesn't. When I move it from one folder to another it gets treated as the old one being deleted and the new one being created fresh, right? So shouldn't that trigger it to show up in Latest Movies? I assumed that's what was happening, but now they're not appearing there so I don't know. EDIT: I still get a notification that it's been added, though. However, for some reason when adding films a lot of the time they have no images or metadata for several minutes, even though there are already the relevant image and NFO files in the folder from when I set the stub up. Luke 42080 Posted December 26, 2019 Posted December 26, 2019 The first part is correct. The second part is it depends.
crusher11 1101 Posted December 26, 2019 Author Posted December 26, 2019 On what? And did you see my edit above?
Luke 42080 Posted December 26, 2019 Posted December 26, 2019 I already answered on what it depends earlier.
crusher11 1101 Posted December 26, 2019 Author Posted December 26, 2019 And the scanning issue? I've just renamed Star Wars episodes V and VI. I've got the Despecialized/4K83 versions, which I want to differentiate from the official Blus which aren't on my server yet. I didn't think about that when setting them up at first, so they were "Star Wars Episode V (1980).mkv" and "Star Wars Episode VI (1980).mkv". I changed them to add " - Theatrical Cut" between the year and the file extension. This resulted in new NFO files being created, so I deleted those and renamed the existing ones in order to keep my modifications. Neither film shows up on my server at all, despite several manual rescans. The MKV files are there, the NFO files are there, the JPGs and PNGs and SRTs are all there. They just don't show up at all.
Luke 42080 Posted December 26, 2019 Posted December 26, 2019 Where aren't they showing up? We'd have to look at examples of folder and file names to determine why.
crusher11 1101 Posted December 26, 2019 Author Posted December 26, 2019 Literally anywhere. I manually updated my Star Wars collection, via the xml file, with the new filenames. Episode VI now shows up in the collection, but nowhere else (when searching for "star wars", or when viewing the Movies library). Episode V is still entirely absent.
crusher11 1101 Posted December 26, 2019 Author Posted December 26, 2019 Also while Episode VI does show up, it's not showing up with the correct metadata. It's just called "Return of the Jedi", whereas the NFO file has it as "Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi". I also gave it a sort title of "Star Wars 3", which is also no longer there.
crusher11 1101 Posted December 26, 2019 Author Posted December 26, 2019 Okay, there was a typo in the path for Episode V in the XML file, which is why that wasn't showing up. Now I can see Episode V and Episode VI in the Collection. I also figured out why they don't show up when searching for "star wars" or in the Movies listing: without the custom sort names or the correct "Star Wars Episode [number]" title, they're not showing up where I'd expect. Return of the Jedi is under R, and Empire Strikes Back is under E. The NFO files still have the correct titles, sort titles, etc. So I have no idea where it's looking for the metadata and why they don't match.
crusher11 1101 Posted December 26, 2019 Author Posted December 26, 2019 I tried renaming them from "Theatrical Cut" to "Theatrical", both the mkv and nfo files. Episode V worked perfectly. Episode VI now has no metadata or images, even though the nfo and image files are still present in its folder.
crusher11 1101 Posted December 26, 2019 Author Posted December 26, 2019 Episode VI is now fine as well. I changed the added date in the metadata to today and they're still not showing up in Latest Movies.
crusher11 1101 Posted December 27, 2019 Author Posted December 27, 2019 I tried sorting my entire library by date added, and they show up first if I do that. But they're still not in the 'latest movies' section of my admin account (they do appear in the 'latest movies' section of the user accounts, which didn't previously have the stub versions available to them).
crusher11 1101 Posted December 27, 2019 Author Posted December 27, 2019 @@Luke What am I doing wrong here?
Luke 42080 Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 We'd have to look at examples of folder and file names to determine why.
Solution ebr 16185 Posted December 28, 2019 Solution Posted December 28, 2019 I tried sorting my entire library by date added, and they show up first if I do that. But they're still not in the 'latest movies' section of my admin account (they do appear in the 'latest movies' section of the user accounts, which didn't previously have the stub versions available to them). Are they marked as watched for the user for which they don't show up? By default, latest movies don't show watched ones... 1
