DigitalFool 0 Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 I need a refresher here - what are the limitations/reasons why I can't stream Dolby Atmos via Roku Ultra with Emby Server on Windows? I know I read about it old threads but can't find out if anything has changed. Right now I'm using an Oppo as an external player and just wanted to know if there will ever be a 'cheaper' solution if this goes kaput. I think I bought about 30 new 4K movies this BF and am really enjoying the Atmos audio streams
Solution Guest asrequested Posted December 4, 2019 Solution Posted December 4, 2019 (edited) It isn't about Atmos. Atmos is just metadata, and it most commonly is attached to TrueHD which isn't officially supported by Roku. There are some E-AC3 tracks that also have Atmos. So if you can't bitstream those codecs, you won't get Atmos. Edited December 4, 2019 by Doofus 1

My AVR just displays Dolby Atmos so I was like yes! Maybe it works now! Unfortunately, it didn’t Thanks! I guess I’m out of luck getting that metadata to a E-AC3 from a TrueHD track ? I don’t recall seeing those options in Handbrake.
