mbyhome 2 Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 Hi Luke, Found this music library issue after upgrading from 4.1.1.0 to 4.3.0.24: 1. All my favorite songs tagged in 4.1.1.0 are lost in 4.3.0.24. Favorite songs become empty in 4.3.0.24. 2. I’m unable to tag songs that have titles with foreign characters in 4.3.0.24. I have tried Japanese, Chinese and Russian with no luck. (This was fine in 4.1.1.0) I can tag English title songs in 4.3.0.24 though. 3. Doing a downgrade from 4.3.0.24 to 4.1.1.0, and all my older favorite songs come back. My favorite songs list contains titles with foreign characters. Maybe it is related to issue (2)? Just a guess. Client side I tried both web app and iOS client. Same behavior. Thanks!

mbyhome 2 Posted November 21, 2019 Author Posted November 21, 2019 Hi, what do you mean by this? what happens when you try? The heart icon wouldn’t become red after being clicked and it stays white. I couldn’t see any changes in “Favorite Songs” either. It worked fine for some other songs (I noticed it’s language related). Playback had no problem, regardless of the language.
mbyhome 2 Posted November 22, 2019 Author Posted November 22, 2019 Okay I take it back...after more test with latest 4.3.0.26, it doesn't seems to be language related. The favorite marking issue seems to be UNRELATED to language, but related to album/folder instead. This issues is consistent within the same album/folder. Some items with foreign characters can be successfully marked, while some other pure English items cannot be marked. I built a test playlist from different albums/folders with multiple languages, and tried to mark everything inside as favorite. As you can see, some were marked successfully and some failed. The interesting thing is, everything in the same folder were either all good or all bad. Could you take a look into this? Thanks!!
Solution mbyhome 2 Posted November 22, 2019 Author Solution Posted November 22, 2019 Problem fixed. Folder consistent marking failures prompt me to suspect metadata mess-up. Favorite marking works after I force refresh metadata for the broken itmes. Seems that the upgrade from 4.1.1.0 from 4.3.0.26 caused something during the metadata migration. Some metadata were corrupted while others were good. Favorites marks still got lost after upgrading, but at least I can manually re-mark them now (saved favorites to a temp playlist in 4.1.1.0 for my own record) 1
Luke 42079 Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 I hadn't had a chance to dive into this yet, but thanks for the feedback and glad to hear you resolved it.
