Cannot update some metadata images

Hi,

I am running emby server 4.2.1.0 on a Synology NAS.  This is the latest version available according to the dashboard.  The NAS has all the latest updates applied.

I want to modify images associated with a number of music clips.  I use the web interface from the latest version of Waterfox (I have also tried from the latest version of Firefox with exactly the same results).

Using the Metadata Manager I navigate to the relevant music clip.  I can modify the text-based information without any issues.  Pressing the '...' button next to the 'Save' button and selecting 'Edit images' I am presented with the list of images currently associated with the music clip.  I want to change the Primary image and press '+' to add an image from a local drive.  If I set the 'Image type' as 'Primary' and press 'Upload' the progress circle spins indefinitely and nothing happens.

If I try to delete any of the images, I get a confirmation dialog 'Delete image?' with 'Cancel' and 'Delete' buttons.  Pressing 'Delete' returns me to the images page but the image has not been deleted.

I can replace a 'Thumb' image (for example) by pressing '+' then selecting a local image file and 'Image type' to be 'Thumb'.  However, the thumb image cannot be deleted.

Similarly, 'Backdrop' images cannot be deleted.

If I press the '<' or '>' buttons on a backdrop image I get an error message that 'There was an error processing the request. Try again later.'

Apart from the '<', '>' button issue (which I cannot remember doing before), deleting images used to work.

Any hints?  Is this a Synology problem?

P.S. I include an image of an example 'Edit Images' page.

Hi, this most likely means Emby Server is being denied access to delete or overwrite the file. Please attach the emby server log so that we can confirm. Thanks.

Please post the server log showing these actions.  Have you tried a different browser?  Are there errors in the browser console (F12) when you do these actions?

Dear Luke,

With this statement you solved my problem.  I perused the server log and, indeed, there was an inability to delete the file due to an access permission issue.

The problem was that the 'embysrv' user did not have modification permissions in the relevant directories and on the relevant files.  It did have create permissions which is why I could add images, but not delete or modify.  How this came to be I do not know.

@Happy2Play: As you can see from the solution a different browser would not have helped.

Thank you.
