somy 25 Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 Hi, I use Emby for years on my QNAP NAS and absolutely love it. Recently I noticed when I play movie in browser it shuttles a lot, and when I looked into resource monitor CPU usage is hitting 100% most of the time - guess it means DXVA not working. I went to the settings and under transcoding I saw the following: Does it mean Emby will no longer do hardware accelerated transcoding for users without premiere membership? (recall it used to work in the past).
Luke 42077 Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 Hi, yes this is correct. We announced this late last year: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/blog/1/entry-443-exciting-additions-coming-soon-in-emby-server-36/ Thanks.

I read "On some platforms such as Nvidia Shield and certain NAS devices, it will be included freely out of the box." - which NAS platforms does come for free and what is the reason why some platforms are free and some are not? Solution Luke 42077 Posted September 7, 2019 Solution Posted September 7, 2019 It's included with Nvidia Shield and WD Nas devices because CPU transcoding performance on those devices does not perform well enough to make it viable. Bringing this to you requires a major effort on our part and we thank you for your support. 1
