Question - single files in folders and sub folders not scanned/displayed correctly

Hi everyone

I have made the switch from Plex to Emby and will never look back, but there is a small issue that I do not understand...

I have added all my videos to my library under 'Home videos' and some are not displaying as I would expect.

Firstly, if I have a single video in a folder, the folder is not displayed at all, instead the video within is displayed outside the folder, and when sorting by title, will be amongst the folders as the file.

e.g.

lets say the location below for 'show name b' has a single video (video 1) within, with other folders with more than one file also displayed below for example:

D:\Videos\Show Name a\video 1.mp4, video 2.mp4, video 3.mp4

D:\Videos\Show Name b\video 1.mp4

D:\Videos\Show Name c\video 1.mp4, video 2.mp4, video 3.mp4

Then when browsing the library by folders or titles I see this:

Show Name a (Folder)

Show Name c (Folder)

Video 1.mp4

When I expect to see:

Show Name a (Folder)

Show Name b (Folder)

Show Name c (Folder)

Secondly, sub folders seem to be ignored sometimes....

e.g. I have a folder with a movie and then within a folder with the featurettes

D:/Videos/Movie:

/Featurettes/

Movie.mp4

Only Movie.mp4 is displayed when browsing the library.

I would be grateful for some advice as the expected behaviour occurs with Plex

thank you

Hi, welcome. over the years this is what our audience has wanted to avoid the extra click, so that's why we do that.

Thank you for the reply Luke, I understand now that the single file is displayed this way by design.

Would you be kind enough to advise me on the absence of some subfolders as also mentioned in my first post? I have reviewed my library and indeed it only seems to affect some sub folders and not others.

Thank you
