password reset, can't locate passwordreset.txt on my server

I am sure this has been asked and answered many times, but I can't seem to find the thread that answers the question...

I changed my password and did a reset.

was shown a popup that said a file was put on my server at "/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/EmbyServer/programdata/passwordreset.txt"

I can't seem to locate the share folder, or search my server for the file. I feel like I looked everywhere on my server. Any idea where it is located?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I ended up creating a new folder and figured out how to create the path to the document emby created.

I will try to recreate the way I did it in case it can help someone else.

That location in the first post would only be accessible via SSH/putty to get to the passwordreset file

So here's how I ended up getting to the right file

After logging into the QNAP server

1. go to control panel

2. go to shared folders

3. create a new shared folder

4. select "enter path manually"

5. select the right directories to follow the path to the file where the reset file is located. In this case, the starting directory was ".qpkg" and I had to drill down until I got to the directory with the password text file.

I now have a folder created that will be me direct access to the file when I lock myself out in the future.

Hi, having the same problem I try to create a share folder but I can't enter /var/packages/EmbyServer/var/ or \var\packages\EmbyServer\var\ because the system simple doesn't accept "/" or "\". The ssh route will not work also, at least not here, because I cannot find an app that supports scp for the Mac (Cyberduck, FileZilla  and Forklift leave me in the dark). Finally I found my original password, but this is quite annoying.

Hi, so you're able to get back in now?

Hi Luke, Thanks for asking.  Yeah I'm back in, but I really like to have a backdoor that I can open myself if needed. Found an explanation how to get full acces via ssh, running an 'unsudoers' script and winscp. Besides from not having a windows pc I didn't get it to work. Maybe I'm a bit of a nerd, but I just like to have root acces to my stuff, and many times it served me well when I ran into problems. Synology itself isn't much of a help there either...

HI, yes we are looking at ways of improving this. Thanks.

Ye can't just email it to us like every other bloody company does?

HI, apologies for the disruption. To answer your question though, we don't require you to give us an email address in order to setup Emby Server, therefore, we don't have that information.

I'm running into this issue when I tried to log in again. I forgot my password. (Usually I keep track of them - oops!)

So I tried the lost password function and got this:
image.png.d7bd8f5e0edb3f5b6ef51a540e953ad8.png

This is on a Debian system. There is no /var/lib/emby, so I created "emby" in /var/lib and made it universally readable and writeable and tried it again. The file is still not there. I have full ssh access to the system and can log in from a keyboard if needed.

So it's not even creating the file when it could.

Any suggestion where to go from here?

What system user are you browsing the file system with? Is it possible that this user just cant' see it? It has to be there because it's underneath the server's data folder. In other words, all of your emby server data is also under /var/lib/emby

Just got back to it a few minutes ago. I did a reboot of the server and ssh'ed into it again - and then realized that I have multiple tabs in my terminal window open and - I REALLY hate to admit this - I was trying to find it in a tab where I was logged into my storage server, not the DVR/TV server. So my bad - really mixed it up there and I saw your response just as.I was coming here to say it's my bad.
