notla49285 48 Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 I can see from a recent update that there are now two separate options for displaying users - one for the local network and one for remote access, which is really useful. To make local sign in easier, I now want to remove the pre-existing Easy PINs for users that have them, but can't see how? There is a message on the Easy PIN Code section of the user to say that if the text box is blank that means no code is needed (so user can just select themselves to login), but as there is a code already assigned I can see "*****" in the box which can be overtyped, but there doesn't seem to be any option to remove it completely. Can anyone advise?
ebr 16187 Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 Hi. That is just a placeholder in the field. If you blank the field out and save, then it will be blank. Let us know if this helps. Thanks.
notla49285 48 Posted June 14, 2019 Author Posted June 14, 2019 (edited) @@ebr I can't test my Rokus at the moment but just tried this on the web app, accessing the local IP and it hasn't worked. I still get a failed login prompt. I visited my own user page, left the PIN field blank and hit Save, then logged out of the web app and tried to log back in using my username only. Edit: It's still accepting the last PIN that I set, so leaving the field blank and saving doesn't work. Edited June 14, 2019 by notla49285
Luke 42081 Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 Edit: It's still accepting the last PIN that I set, so leaving the field blank and saving doesn't work. Just tested and it's working perfectly fine here. Are you sure you clicked save?

darkassassin07 652 Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 (edited) @@Luke On my server, Once you set a pin for yourself and save it. The pin box has '*****' in grey behind it. If you type anything into that box it replaces that, but back spacing to empty the box, the *s just return. Once a pin has been set, I can't find a way to remove it and have a blank pin. I can turn the pin on/off or change it to something else, but cant set it to a blank pin. Tested with android and the web app (mobile and desktop) Edited June 14, 2019 by darkassassin07
Happy2Play 9783 Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 (edited) Yes Luke, I know how to press a Save button https://youtu.be/AZ2TNKeSfyo @@Happy2Play are you able to reproduce? I will try and find the other topic but as displayed in the video manually putting pin in and deleting them and hitting save does not clear a pin in all browsers. As you can see in that browser there are up and down arrows. If you use those arrows it will apply a number then you can remove that number and hit save to actually remove the current pin. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/71709-reset-user-password-button-missing/?p=749644 Edited June 14, 2019 by Happy2Play 1
notla49285 48 Posted June 15, 2019 Author Posted June 15, 2019 (edited) I will try and find the other topic but as displayed in the video manually putting pin in and deleting them and hitting save does not clear a pin in all browsers. The only reason I entered numbers in the video was to show that I had deleted all characters from the text box and that it was completely clear (as the placeholder is misleading). The PIN that was previously set was actually 5555. As you can see in that browser there are up and down arrows. If you use those arrows it will apply a number then you can remove that number and hit save to actually remove the current pin. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/71709-reset-user-password-button-missing/?p=749644 This has fixed the issue! I'm not too familiar with web coding but this needs to be fixed somehow as that's a bit of a dodgy workaround. If it's anything to do with the placeholder in my opinion this should be removed as it can be a little misleading anyway and only serves to show that a PIN has been set, I don't think the admin needs to know this when looking at it. Edit: By the way @@Happy2Play, I read that other thread and this same issue happens in Firefox (that's what I was using in the video). Edited June 15, 2019 by notla49285
Solution darkassassin07 652 Posted June 29, 2019 Solution Posted June 29, 2019 (edited) Just noticed this problem has been solved by adding an option box: -require password on lan -dont require password on lan -allow numeric pincode on lan Just wanted to say I think this is a great solution. It makes the functionality a little more clear while also fixing being able to go from pin to no pin. Edited June 29, 2019 by darkassassin07 1
