Guest Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 (edited) Basically its very often for videos to freeze and not play until you go back out and click on the movie again. Note that it mainly occurs with movies only which has me indicate its some kind of issue with the streaming size as my movies are quite a bit bigger than TV. When it does freeze its often freezing at the exact same parts every time I would watch it. For example Movie A, I would play it and for e.g. it freezes at 2:20, if I were to wait a few days and try watch the movie again most of the time it would freeze at 2:20 again, though not always the case, this type of similar freezing issues is kind of movie specific, an example here is this is happening on an x264 of Monsters University. I managed to actually snab a recording of this happening on Ted 2 EXTENDED/Unrated. https://streamable.com/n89iz Go here and skip in 2 minutes and 20 seconds, you still see the behavior happening and see how I managed to get it to play again. This happens like every few minutes but in some cases it actually can happen almost every 2 seconds. This is the media stats after I got it to play again. Whats also interesting is how it seems to be messing with the audio transcoding it to MP3? P.S. Its always fine on Emby Player for Android TV, I only encounter this issue on chromes web player. Edit: Heres a recording of it showing the transcoding stats https://streamable.com/xki53 Edited May 6, 2019 by PRAGMA
Luke 42085 Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/739-how-to-report-a-problem/ Thanks.
Guest Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 Now I cant get anything that needs transcoding to even start I attached 2 logs, from what I can tell chrome doesnt support the codec and/or 5.1 channel audio, but ffmpeg seems to be transcoding extremely slow Log.txt Log 2.txt
Solution Guest Posted May 6, 2019 Solution Posted May 6, 2019 Just a further update, something thats very strange is that I was trying to play anything and it would just freeze on the loading circle (Circle + the poster bg, thats all that showed) and nothing played, regardless on which device, I took a look at my F: drive (which hosts all the content) and it was getting 0% reads on everything, not a single number of IO usage in any way, basically like it didnt exist. I rebooted just now and stuff is seemingly playing again, im really not sure what happened here. The only thing I remember doing between working -> issues -> and now after rebooting fine again, is i installed NZXT Cam around the time or if not a bit before all the issues started, then I disabled NZXT Cam auto startup and disabled it from getting disk info in settings and rebooted and works fine now, though I have done plenty other stuff just thats a prime suspect. I also installed other software like ASUS Aura Sync, Corsair iCUE, Aorus RGBFusion 2.0, Wireshark, PCap (which is uninstalled before i reported the issues here)
Guest Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 That's interesting, thanks for the feedback. Just an update, It may have been Asus Aura Sync because ive constantly had issues ever since with windows in general just freezing and it causing weird resource usage. Its very possible it was doing something bad which caused my drive to run into issues. I dont think Emby's codebase was to blame for any of this.
Guest Posted May 16, 2019 Posted May 16, 2019 Just to mention, the actual issue where it just in general freezes every now and then is still an issue in Web Player (When its Transcoding), it seems it just kind of happens.
Luke 42085 Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 That's usually a sign of bitrate being too high, I would suggest lowering it.
