Timeout waiting for response from server

Tryung to connect TCL roku TV to emby server.

 

Emby server IP is 10.0.0.189 port 8096.

 

App asks me to go to emby.media/pin...I enter pin...it confirms...ask me to add new server...and I get the timeout error.

 

Roku app says version is 3.0.15

Roku software version 9.0.0 build 4151

Emby Server latest version 4

yes i just verified it again.

 

 however I just tried connecting my laptop on wifi, on the same network, and it wont connect there either.

 

all devices on 10.0.0.1

I should add this is a newly installed Ubuntu 19.04 server.  Wonder if maybe the UFW is on and blocking something.  I will have to test when I get home but seems devices on my LAN cant see the local Emby server.

-Is the IP address of the machine hosting the server reserved as a static IP?

-Is UFW active? If so, has the local port been allowed through UFW for tcp traffic

-If static ip is already reserved; does the local ip that shows in the dash match the reserved static IP?

@@bigverm23 are you still having an issue with this? Are you sure the emby server ip address is correct?

sorry this has been resolved.

 

Steps to resolve:

1. set static IP on emby server host

2. turned off UFW on Ubuntu OS
