Tech127 20 Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 Is there a way to make it so anyone connecting remotely to my server is limited to a SD stream? My data is getting chewed up at an alarming rate because most of my content is HD. TIA!
Solution Luke 42100 Posted April 18, 2019 Solution Posted April 18, 2019 Hi, yes, absolutely. Have you explored the internet streaming bitrate limit in advanced server settings? If you want to limit them to SD, try 3 Mbps. Please note you'll see more transcoding by doing this. 1
denz 501 Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 Go to server settings -> advanced at the bottom you have internet streaming rate and put a limit there.
Happy2Play 9792 Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 You have a global or per user "Internet streaming bitrate limit". Global - each stream is limited to set rate. Dashboard-Advanced Per User - set their max streaming rate. Looks like I typed to slow. 1
pwhodges 2015 Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 I note that the server setting is only bitrate, whereas the user setting can also specify resolution. The server setting therefore carries the risk of producing poor quality at high resolution rather than better quality at a lower resolution.
Luke 42100 Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 No it won't because it will also scale down the resolution at lower bitrates.
