Empty Artist Will Not Delete

Emby Server for Windows v4.1.0.12 beta

I have a couple of Artists (authors) in my Audiobook library that are duplicate entries, and I can't get them to delete from Emby.

I had some audiobooks that, though they were from the same author, for some reason generated separate author entries. Anyway, I did a "Plex Dance" by removing the audiobooks, scanning, readding them, and scanning again. Now the audiobooks are together in a common Artist entry like they should be, but I still have additional Artist entries that are empty. I tried going to their path and deleting the metadata files, but Emby adds them back again.

How do I delete an Artist entry from within Emby?

Also, how do I combine albums from within in Emby to belong to the same Artist entry?

tl;dr: The left "Aleron Kong" Artist entry is empty. How do I delete it? And how do I combine Albums into a single Artist if they are incorrectly separated into separate Artist entries without Plex Dancing the files?

Hi, you don't delete artists. Instead simply remove them from the media.

I confirmed that the media is identically tagged. And now, as I said, there is no media pertaining to that (the left) artist entry. There is no reason for Emby to have two entries, but I can not delete one of them, and I can not combine them together.

I can not remove the artist from the media because there is no media from which to remove it. "Identify"ing it doesn't fix the problem; it just adds metadata to the empty Artist that is also populated in the other (non-empty one on the right) artist entry.

Also, I've found that among the Artists that have duplicate entries, one entry has a Path field at the top of the metadata window but the other entry does not.

if the artist is showing up there must be something, perhaps assigned at the music video or album level rather than individual media.

Aha! The external .nfo files were goofing things up. When I deleted the albums' nfo files and then did a Plex Dance, Emby repopulated the albums without duplicate artist entries.

(...and, because I already created the artist and audiobook info on Musicbrainz, it identified them properly.)

You could have also removed it from the album using the metadata editor. Thanks for the feedback.
