To delete or not to delete, that is the question.

I noticed that after playing a movie (I think it was a "play from the start on a partially played movie) that after the movie played the selection was on the "Delete" option. Of course I did not want to delete the movie so I pressed the back button but I would like to never ever be offered the option to delete my media. I do all my media management from my operating system and I never ever want Emby to delete any media.

Is there an option somewhere to turn off all chance of deletion? I sometimes watch late at night and I have been known to press buttons by accident deleting media by accident would be bad.

It has been established, in the past, that I am no good at finding options in the Emby interface and I have looked around but see no option for this.

Thanks for any help.

Hi there, what Emby app was this in?

It was in the Roku beta app but I am pretty sure I have seen the same thing on my Shield and Fire. It did not occur to me that it might be a client option.

I have been mostly using Plex for years (Emby is now my system of choice) and there the "delete" options are at the server level where you "enable" or "disable" the ability to delete files. I am not saying their way is better but rather it is just different and this old dog is slow to learn the new tricks.

If needed I will ask this in the appropriate client forum after looking for the setting on the client. I apologize if I asked in the wrong place.

You have per user options "Allow Media Deletion From" in the user profile.  Not positive if the client setting will over ride that though, but they should be link.  Can't remember if Official Roku app has a option in settings.

On the Shield and FireTv you have to scroll right to "More" and then delete shows up. Don't use Rokus so not sure how thats setup.

However, you can delete the option completely or by library by going to the server dashboard>users>uncheck "Allow Media Deletion From". This will remove the option from the clients.

Thanks both!!!

I looked at user settings but my old and somewhat decrepit eyes (or the equally old and decrepit brain the interprets the eye's signals) did not see that setting. I have now turned it off at the server level and, when I have time to look I will turn it off on each client.

Again thanks!!!!!!!

The dashboard setting should disable on the clients automatically. In fact I don't see any option in any of my clients to enable or disable the delete option. You should be all set.
