Yet another "my mixed content is messed up" thread

Hello all.

I read a bunch on the forums but didn't see this exact issue.

Basically my mixed content libraries do not group movie resolutions as one item.

They get grouped as a makeshift collection with a little folder icon on the poster but when i enter the item i get the same movie twice. One in 720p and one in 1080p.

Something like this:

Animation (mixed content library)

    -> The Iron Giant (simple movie folder structure that get picked up as some sort of group?)

        -> The Iron Giant 720p

        -> The Iron Giant 1080p

And strangely in both entries i can select to play it in 720p or 1080p.

I upgraded to 4.0.1 today and the issue is still present.

Can i fix this or is this on your end ?

Thanks y'all

Hi there, have you run a library scan since updating? Can you show screenshots of the folder structures? Thanks.

I did run a complete scan, refreshed everything multiple times... the same

Here's a screen cap of the structure... pretty standard i think, except emby created a nfo for both 720p and 1080p. If i simply delete, say, the 720p and refresh, it comes back.

Everything in the _ignore folder is hidden by a .ignore file in there.

any ideas ?

I see what you are saying.  Multi-versioning does not appear to work in Mixed Content.  You get a Folder icon on item folder and when you enter that folder you are presented with both versions of the media.  But you don't know which version is which until you look at the path of the item.

Exactly. I just want them to join like they do in the regular movies library.

I did try to manually merge them but that didn't work either.

I don't think we have ever supported this in mixed content, right?

Well, before 4.0 it worked great like you would expect. Maybe it was supported by some sort of a happy accident, but please fix that. Otherwise that library type becomes unusable in my opinion.

Being able to set mixed content libraries that worked, was one of the selling points for me in my initial plex vs emby debate years ago. Emby won.

i tried the same argument on the sorting of photos. Seems emby accidentally make a number of things work...

So, any hope of fixing this issue?

Actually I just tested on 3.5.3.0 and they appeared the same as they did in regular Movie libraries, multi-version grouped.

Now in 4.0.1.0 they are shown as described in post 6.
