GaryJSmith 1 Posted October 13, 2018 Posted October 13, 2018 Hi: I installed Emby a few days ago to handle my music videos. The music videos are all in one overall folder (local to server) with 1 sub folder for each artist (total of 50 sub folders). Each artist folder has a number of music videos (a few folders only have 1 or 2 videos while others may have 10 to 15). Of the 50 folders, 18 scanned fine and the other 32 folders only had 1 item from each folder scanned as an individual music video (I believe it was only the first video in the folder). A few of the folders not fully scanned only had 1 or 2 videos in them but rest had more (usually 5 to 8 videos). All of my folders and folder contents are consistent in naming format (Music Videos/Artist Name/Artist Name - Video Name.mp4). Any suggestion on what I should do to get all videos into the library and associated with the folder they are contained in. (which I can set up with artist info through metadata). I have over 300 music videos and do not want to have to change file structure. I am migrating from Plex (if I can get music videos to work). I has all the music videos in Plex with this format and everything worked fine. Any suggestions? I can add the original scan log file if it is needed.
Luke 42096 Posted October 13, 2018 Posted October 13, 2018 Hi, can you go over some specific examples? Thanks.
GaryJSmith 1 Posted October 13, 2018 Author Posted October 13, 2018 Hi: I have attached a screen shot of the folder for Ariana Grande music videos. When I scanned the library, only the first item (Everyday) was included as a single music video (not in a folder). Same thing happened for many other folders. About an hour ago, I copied some additional content to the Ariana folder and after re-scanning the folder, all content (new and old) showed up. I tried this for a second folder and same thing happened. I then deleted the new content I added in the Emby folders (which deleted in the Emby library and the 2 windows folders). The folder view in Emby was removed and reverted back to where I started. Hope this additional info helps. Let me know if you would like any other screen shots or other info.
Guest asrequested Posted October 13, 2018 Posted October 13, 2018 Probably because they are all named the same, the artist. Try removing the artist name from one video, rescan, and see if it changes.
GaryJSmith 1 Posted October 13, 2018 Author Posted October 13, 2018 Hi: I removed the artist name on the second video in three different folders. I then re-scanned the library and folder views showed up for all three folders. All 3 folders had 5 or more videos and I only changed the name for the second video but all videos in the folder were displayed in Emby. I then went back and put the artist name on the video in one of the three folders and re-scanned. That folder was no longer in Emby and reverted back to only the first video from that folder. Strange and interesting behavior. This could be a temporary work around for me but I don't think this should be the final solution.
Solution Guest asrequested Posted October 13, 2018 Solution Posted October 13, 2018 Yeah, it's been brought up several times. I have the same problem. You could also try putting the artist name in brackets. Anything in brackets should be ignored. 1
GaryJSmith 1 Posted October 13, 2018 Author Posted October 13, 2018 Hi: I tried the brackets around the artist name and it worked out well (as you said). Not sure how to close this item as I will use the workarounds mentioned. Perhaps this will be fixed properly in a future release.
