jburgess 13 Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 Hi all, Hope you are well. Got a small issue. I have a movie library. Awesome. I then added a 4K HDR library. Even though these are separate containers etc, it merges all my 4K films along with my normal movie library. I am in the process of moving from Plex and this is a massive issue for me. I don't want my other users streaming 4K when then don't want to be. Not everyone has the know how to look at the top and know the difference between 1080 and 4K. Is there an option to make sure the 4K libraries stay separate from my standard ones? So it goes like Movies TV shows Movies 4K TV shows 4K Thanks JB
jburgess 13 Posted October 9, 2018 Author Posted October 9, 2018 Just a thought, is it the auto boxsets sticking these together? I enabled that plugin... If I remove that, will it unmerge them and does Emby have its own collections info?
Luke 42078 Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 Hi, if you want them separate then just do four separate libraries.
arrbee99 1815 Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 Am really not an expert, I've never bothered using it, but if you go to the server dashboard > users> three dots > library access you can pick and choose which libraries / folders they are allowed to access.
Guest asrequested Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 I have separate libraries for Movies and 4k Movies.
Luke 42078 Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 @@jburgess has this helped? it sounds like you created one single movies library with both folders, when instead you want two separate libraries.
jburgess 13 Posted October 10, 2018 Author Posted October 10, 2018 @@Luke they are separate. That's what I mean :/ Some how though, the 4K content is ending up with my 1080 versions. Some people do want 4k just not always
Luke 42078 Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 Where are they grouped together? can you show a screenshot? Thanks.
jburgess 13 Posted October 10, 2018 Author Posted October 10, 2018 It's ok, It's what I thought. Auto box sets was grouping them together In my main movie library. Removed it and now it's how it should be. Thanks guys.
jburgess 13 Posted October 10, 2018 Author Posted October 10, 2018 Actually... In case anyone has this issue. It's the option in libraries tab, group movies into collections. So might not be the auto boxsets!
Solution jburgess 13 Posted October 11, 2018 Author Solution Posted October 11, 2018 Just a final update, It was the option in my library settings and not Auto Boxsets.
superloopy 1 Posted July 27, 2020 Posted July 27, 2020 (edited) Hi guys, can i piggyback onto this discussion as it closely reflects what i have set up. My 'movies' folder used to contain all of my files .264 and .265 titles together. This was set up as per the wiki identifying the 4k titles and allowing me to select whichever version i needed from the title menu. I have now separated the 4k titles into their own folder, for the reasons identified by the op ie to be able to allow access only to .264 titles and to keep 4k content separate BUT i would still like to pbe able to 'see' the 4k titles as previously when i personally login. Also , is it possible to keep the 'boxset' function across multiple folders as it doesnt appear to be working with my two folders now? Is this possible? Edited July 27, 2020 by superloopy

Is this possible? Update ... i think i've sorted this, nearly. I DONT need 4k folder to separate content. I CAN filter on .h264 content and this masks 4K content, yes? But, how then do i restrict another user to this filter, can i set up a user with a persistent filter to allow me to limit content?
Carlo 4561 Posted July 27, 2020 Posted July 27, 2020 I'd suggest giving MikePlanet's plugin a try as it sounds like exactly what you want. You can keep your normal movies and the 4K library (with access only to certain people) and then let the plugin "stack" your movies even from different libraries!

Both h.264 and h.265 can be used for both 4k and lower resolutions, so that filter would only work if you know that all your media happens to fit the implied restriction. Paul
superloopy 1 Posted July 27, 2020 Posted July 27, 2020 Thanks guys, looks just like what i need. I'm running Emby 4.4.3 from an unRaid docker, how do i add this plugin? Cant 'see' it within Emby itself obviously, no idea how to add it externally, any pointers appreciated!
Carlo 4561 Posted July 27, 2020 Posted July 27, 2020 Read the thread. It's not in the catalog and requires manual installation which is normally quite easy to do.

Carlo 4561 Posted July 27, 2020 Posted July 27, 2020 With any type of file manager do you know how to navigate to where Emby is installed?

Carlo 4561 Posted July 27, 2020 Posted July 27, 2020 OK, now in Web admin on the dashboard menu choice scroll down to the bottom of the page. You'll see a few paths listed one of which is logs and one is metadata. On windows it will look similar to this: What we want is the path the the programdata folder so for me C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\ Now for me when I navigate to that location I have a folder called plugins it is this folder plugins that you would copy the DLL to then restart Emby Server. Try and follow that logic for Docker and let's see how close a match this is.
superloopy 1 Posted July 27, 2020 Posted July 27, 2020 Followed, thanks!Sent from my CLT-L09 using Tapatalk
superloopy 1 Posted July 27, 2020 Posted July 27, 2020 (edited) sort of ... i now have a structure of all movies -> movies & movies4k folders but within emby can only view at the all movies level, the other two sub folders show as 0 entries even though they ARE the repositories within the ALL movies folder. So, i've still got a problem when i limit access to just the one or t'other folders at the subfolder level, no entries are presented. any ideas? Edited July 27, 2020 by superloopy
