Cover Art plugin change - plugin page issue

the covers all either show codec or container now.  I prefer the way it was done before, where it just said Bluray or DVD.  I can't figure out how to change it back after the update.

Also, on the plugins page on the dashboard, clicking the three dots for any plug in does nothing.  It used to bring up a Settings/Uninstall menu but now they don't do anything, and right clicking them brings up the standard chrome menu, not an emby menu.

Hi, try refreshing one of these tittles and see if that changes it. Thanks.

As far as the 3-dot menu goes, that seems to be working just fine here. What browser are you on?

@@Happy2Play can you corroborate?

Chrome Version 67.0.3396.99.  It does seem to work in IE so it must be a chrome issue.

refreshing doesn't change anything, i'm not sure what you were referring to.  The new coverart seems to be forcing either codec or container, neither of which i want to use I like the way it was before.  Now it looks like this

And the only option for changing this that I can see is this

5b4e3d7b57008_2.png

But when I check that, instead of saying H-264 above the movie, it says MKV.  I want to go back to the way it was before, where it would use the resolution to say Bluray, DVD, or 4k

Well that's by design. In fact that's exactly what the help text says will happen. What were you expecting?

What i meant by refresh is refreshing the metadata.

@@thekingswolf Editing the metadata file to add the tag CA-Blu-Ray or CA-DVD will result in CoverArt using the corresponding image treatment.   I'm not what the the tag for 4K is as I don't have any media in that format...CA-4K or CA-UHD maybe? This is a pain if you have a lot of media files. But it will give you what you want.

it wasn't like this before the update.  this is a new problem since i updated to the new version.  Adding that tag does work, but I have over 2000 movies in my library and adding that tag one by one isn't a viable option.

I understand that, my point is that these are now the only 2 options.  Show codec, or show container.  I don't want either, i want it to be like it was before this update.

Like this

Where is the option to make it like this?  This is how it has been the whole time, and now the new update is forcing me to display codec or container.

Try refreshing the metadata of that title.

yes there is a change here. there is a database change to the way we store the resolution data and therefore your videos currently have no resolution information in the database, and therefore cover art is choosing the next best thing to put on the poster.

This is something that only affects this particular option in cover art and will resolve itself over time as media gets refreshed. Or, if you were to do mass refreshes of metadata, then that would take care of it right now.

ok thanks Luke, i'll do a mass refresh.

Update:  hey thanks Luke that worked.  I refreshed the metadata for individual movies and it wasn't doing anything, but the mass refresh worked.  thanks.

Hi,

I do not know how you customized, but I had the same problem and others with the Web interface.

In the settings (by clicking on the avatar in the top right) > Display, if the two settings (for Theme and Theme of the Dashboard are "Dark" (only Dark), it blocks the 3-dot menu of plugins (like you), and it prevents me from entering in the configuration of Libraries and other things.

If I change only one of these two Themes (either) into anything, no matter (even dark green or dark red or whatever you want) no more blocking (for plugins or other).

I'm on Vivaldi, but it's Chromium 67. (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/67.0.3396.102 Safari/537.36 Vivaldi/1.97.1230.3)

You can also just click on the plugin tile itself.

yeah i can't uninstall any tho.  i can use IE i guess, but just thought you'd like to be aware of the issue for Chrome users

Thanks. I will test this out and see if I can chase it down.

You can also just click on the plugin tile itself.

Yes, clicking on the plugin is possible, but once you enter in its configuration, it is blocked. If I take the example of Backup & Restore, I cannot delete a backup with Dark and Dark themes configuration in display settings.
For libraries, clicking on 3-dot do nothing, click on the image do nothing with Dark and Dark. However, with each click on a media library, the url changes :

URL changes, but the page remains the same.

But these are not the only problems with this display.

- There are also empty libraries, no movies, no series, no trailers... I hear that the server displays them : my libraries are on several different disks, and if I click on one of them, I hear my disks start and run, but it doesn't populate the interface.

- When everything blocks, the only solution is to refresh, which gets out and brings to the login page. Except that sometimes the refresh doesn't work either, and I stay on a black page with loop loading. Only solution: Close the tab and reopen the page by typing the URL (or from a bookmark).

And so all these problems no longer exist if I change only one of the display parameters (Dark/Dark green or Dark green/Dark, or Dark red/Dark or Dark/Dark red... Everything work but not Dark/Dark)

Other informations :

1) It was only with the last (stable) server update that this problem appeared.

2) I add that I use a custom css (complete Dark Theme, accent color Grey from @BenZuser). This css doesn't seem to be up to date anymore and so I thought the problem could come from there. It would seem not, because removing the css does not fix the problem.

3) Following this server update, the dashboard had been automatically switched to Light theme (to my surprise and horror, I hate the light), but the other pages remained in Dark. So I wanted to put back as quickly as possible the dark theme of the dashboard, a matter of life and death, and that's where I could see all the problems cited.

(Sorry for my English)

Ok i tested this exact scenario and it still worked fine for me. When this happens can you check the Chrome debug console and see if it shows any errors? Thanks !

I enable "Cover by definition instead of type (UHD/HD/SD)" then select "Specific Covers" for that type.

is there an issue or is that in response to the above?

Just so you know, that is the default now for all new installs (has been for a few months).

This mapping change was a change awhile ago,  When tags where implemented also.  And "Image Treat as" was removed.
