thekingswolf 48 Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 (edited) lost one of my drives recently and am recovering from the data loss. Am trying to fill the gaps in some random episodes that I lost, and thanks to some suggestions on the forum I found the Reports plug in. When I choose the Media>Episodes report and apply the Missing Episodes filter, the report I get is in no way complete. Mostly it just shows episodes for shows I have in my library that haven't aired yet. It does include a very small number of actual missing episodes, but there are a lot missing that I know for a fact aren't there, that are not in the report. Suggestions? ebr 16184 Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 What happens if you refresh one of the series with missing episodes that are missing from the report?
thekingswolf 48 Posted June 4, 2018 Author Posted June 4, 2018 (edited) refreshing metadata seems to have worked, but now the report is showing episodes missing, that aren't missing. I can even click on the episode in the report, and it takes me right to it and I can play it. I refreshed one of the shows where this is happening and it still does it. Refresh Metadata is the only refresh i see, is that what you meant? Edited June 4, 2018 by thekingswolf
ebr 16184 Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 Yes, that is the refresh I meant. If those series were added before you had turned on the missing episode option, then they will not have any missing episode information and will need to be refreshed to obtain it. As for your other issue, we'd need to see specifics. Thanks.
thekingswolf 48 Posted June 4, 2018 Author Posted June 4, 2018 Shutdown Server then restared server for clean log file. Went to dashboard and ran report for missing episodes. Log file - https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/KPTKyx2J6P/ Example Screen shot. These episodes are all there, and will play successfully if I click them on this screen. I have refreshed metadata for Bob's Burgers.
thekingswolf 48 Posted June 4, 2018 Author Posted June 4, 2018 ok will do it now. big library, will report later
thekingswolf 48 Posted June 4, 2018 Author Posted June 4, 2018 full library rescan complete. no change in the report
Luke 42079 Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 It's always possible there's a defect in the reports plugin. While we're here I would just like to point out that the reports plugin is a community addition, and contributions are welcome. The source code can be found here: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/EmbyReports Thanks ! 1
thekingswolf 48 Posted June 4, 2018 Author Posted June 4, 2018 ok cool thanks a lot. the report is better now, it does show more of the files that are actually missing, but like i said there are a whole bunch in here that aren't missing. It's a long report, and the fact that some of these aren't missing makes me question the validity of the entire report, like maybe there are still some that are missing that aren't listed. i'll poke around the source code, thanks for the link. Data lass sucks lol. had a 4tb crap out on me
Happy2Play 9780 Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 (edited) Do you see the same if you went to a library TV-Episodes and filtered by missing episodes? The defect in the plugin as mentioned it Missing episode filter lists all unaired episode that the database has already acquired information for. TV-episodes has 2 filters one for missing and one for unaired Edited June 4, 2018 by Happy2Play

The defect in the plugin as mentioned it Missing episode filter lists all unaired episode that the database has already acquired information for. TV-episodes has 2 filters one for missing and one for unaired I don't have any of the capabilities you mention. If i go into TV shows in my library, "missing episodes" is not a filter that is available to me. Also, you say TV-episodes has 2 filters but mine does not. You can see in my screen shot above that I only have filters for missing and specials. Unaired is nowhere in the list of filters for me. What I see in library:

thekingswolf 48 Posted June 5, 2018 Author Posted June 5, 2018 ah sweet ty. yes this is the same as the report. You can see here is says season 1 episode 1 is missing, but directly beneath that it shows the same episode. it plays fine when I click it. I should also note that i just reformatted my machine and this is a fresh install of Emby
Happy2Play 9780 Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 To that sound like miss matched or incomplete metadata. When I see doubles similar to this in Upcoming it requires a library scan or a metadata Refresh. Have you compared what appears on the one showing missing to the one that doesn't?
thekingswolf 48 Posted June 5, 2018 Author Posted June 5, 2018 (edited) I re-scanned my entire library as well as refreshing metadata on the whole library and nothing changes. I'm not sure what you mean by comparing what appears. The one that doesn't show missing has all normal data, filepathm codec, all the normal stuff. The one that is missing only shows what you see in the screen shot. I feel like this isn't a duplicate issue. It's not something that is showing up twice, it's something being misreported as missing right? Edited June 5, 2018 by thekingswolf
Happy2Play 9780 Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Do they have the same External ids in their metadata. There has to be something different between the 2 entries to prevent the virtual (missing) episode from joining with the physical episode. You will more then likely have to post a server log for this issue.
Solution thekingswolf 48 Posted June 5, 2018 Author Solution Posted June 5, 2018 (edited) ok. so. i figured it out, and it bugs me that Emby thinks like this because i'm used to Kodi. This was happening because Emby doesn't really add a show or a movie to the library, it adds a folder and files to the library with metadata tagged onto those folders. Let me explain. Because of how scrapers work, I am super particular about file organization and how my files are named. However when I am downloading/seeding files, they can't be renamed until I am finished seeding them (which I do for long periods to maintain a ratio with my community). For this reason, I have Shows separated. I'll use bob's burgers as an example. I have my primary drive pool with my library in it, which has bob's burgers seasons 1-7 in it all named properly. Then I have a separate folder that contains new incoming episodes since the naming conventions are often weird, or the files are compressed into many rar parts. this folder is torrents\shows\bobs burgers\season 8. After my seeding ratio is finished, I rename them properly and move them to the permanent location. Emby doesn't add the show bob's burgers to my library, and then add episodes to that listing. It adds folders and associates those folders with a show. So to Emby, there are 2 bob's burgers. One of them is missing season 1-7 and one of them is missing season 8, so it was showing I was missing all episodes. This annoys me because i know movies are going to work like this too. So when I am downloading a movie into my torrents folder, I won't be able to add that movie to a collection until after I finish seeding it and move it to it's permanent location, because Emby doesn't add movies or shows and puts that movie in a collection, it adds folders and files and adds them by filepath to the collection. In Kodi, the paths didn't matter, but I guess that was because the Movie Sets were scraper based and file paths didn't matter, where as Emby collections are user created and are associated with files at a specific path and not related to the metadata. For shows it was the same. Kodi didn't care where the files were, Bob's burgers had one listing with episodes in different locations. I guess my solution for this is I'll have to experiment with new torrent clients to find one that will allow me to rename the files while downloading, and forego having a separate torrents folder. the closed community i use only allows specific clients, so hopefully i can find one that works and lets me do this. Spaceboy 2573 Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Isn’t there an option to allow series across multiple locations?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Isn’t there an option to allow series across multiple locations? Yes, per TV library. Automatically merge series that are spread across multiple folders If enabled, series that are spread across multiple folders within this library will be automatically merged into a single series.
thekingswolf 48 Posted June 5, 2018 Author Posted June 5, 2018 (edited) yes. apparently this isn't 100% reliable. This was checked the whole time. Also I have a few other series that are duplicated in my library because of this folder separation issue. I think this option is more of a GUI thing than a database thing and might function similar to the "Automatically group content" option under display preferences. It's more of a filter than anything i think Edited June 5, 2018 by thekingswolf
Happy2Play 9780 Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Are your folders within the same Library, as this is per library?
thekingswolf 48 Posted June 5, 2018 Author Posted June 5, 2018 Are your folders within the same Library, as this is per library? yes
ebr 16184 Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Are the TV Series folders on the different drives named exactly the same?
