RLG59RD 0 Posted May 22, 2018 Author Posted May 22, 2018 It was a refresh install - cannot find my server, looks like im going to have to redo the whole server and send out fresh invites etc........nightmare! It takes hours! Rob
RLG59RD 0 Posted May 22, 2018 Author Posted May 22, 2018 I thought i had done a back via the Emby app - but cannot locate anything relating to my server or files? Rob
Luke 42085 Posted May 22, 2018 Posted May 22, 2018 Where did you store your backups, hopefully not on the same machine, right?
Solution FrostByte 5392 Posted May 22, 2018 Solution Posted May 22, 2018 His files should still be there even after a fresh install on the same machine as long as he didn't reformat the drive when reinstalling Windows. Maybe look in the folder Windows.old or something 2
RLG59RD 0 Posted May 22, 2018 Author Posted May 22, 2018 No didn't format drive, have all files on a separate drive - but had to reset Emby account up from scratch again. Had to set up folders and sections etc - been on it 2 hrs now Rob
FrostByte 5392 Posted May 22, 2018 Posted May 22, 2018 (edited) Sorry to hear that, unfortunately if you can't find any backups or the installation folder from your previous install of Emby you probably just have to start over like you're doing. File locations are in the Wiki https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Backup Recommend installing the Backups and Restore plugin soonest though and setting to do backups at least daily to a place you feel safe. It's really easy to Restore when needed. Recently did that here when moving my Emby server from Windows to a Synology NAS Edited May 22, 2018 by FrostByte 1
Nick's MCE 59 Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 Hi Guys I also had to do a fresh install of windows including formatting the drive. I did however do a backup and save it elsewhere, so I have the backup. When I reinstall the server how do apply the backup? Also my drive paths have changed so will this still have my user data. mainly what I am tring to keep is the watched data?? Any help Thanks Nick

Since you mentioned path changes only restore the Users and Users playdata.... Watched status is tracked by providerids so you don't have to worry about paths.
FrostByte 5392 Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 (edited) You can also restore Playlists if you have any. You would just need to use notepad or something on the text file to do mass changes of the paths and maybe change the userid at the bottom before doing a rescan. I did that when moving from Windows to my Synology NAS which changed paths of course. Edited June 14, 2018 by FrostByte
