Crestj 68 Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 (edited) Having had an Emby Server running for years I appear to have a large mix of different metadata files in my Movie and TV libraries. I can see some folders contain XML files, some contain metadata folders (with jpgs only) and some folders with nothing. All my metadata is correct within Emby so I assume it's all nicely kept in the Emby DB. I have set Emby to save metadata with the media folders and also create NFO files but I can't see any of that on the disk. Can I safely remove all metadata folders and XML files? *I also have a backdrop folder in some media folders that contain theme.mp4 but I assume that's Radeons plugins doing that so I can leave those. Is that right? Edited February 7, 2018 by Crestj
Crestj 68 Posted February 7, 2018 Author Posted February 7, 2018 Thanks Luke. What about the hidden folders called metadata with a jpg of each episode in? Are they legacy folders that can go as well?
Solution Luke 42091 Posted February 7, 2018 Solution Posted February 7, 2018 They are not being saved like that anymore but they still might be getting used. you can delete them if you wish and then deal with missing images if they arise. 1
Crestj 68 Posted February 7, 2018 Author Posted February 7, 2018 Perfect! Thanks for the clarification. Incidentally I couldn't find this info or any metadata related info in the wiki on the forum. Did I miss it? Might be useful for others with metadata queries about the recommended methods, unsupported methods and cleanup procedures as we all know metadata can leave a mess if left alone [emoji3]
