Deathsquirrel 745 Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 I can't recall if I've reported this before but I don't think so. I've been getting nasty popping and sound cutouts when playing some TrueHD tracks. All of the examples I can think of are anime. If I use an external player this does not happen. Tested that with VLC and MX player now. If I switch to the AC3 track in the same file it's fine. This appears to be isolated to 5.1 TrueHD streams. For example Freezing includes 5.1 in English and Japanese and both have the issue while Fairy Tail has 5.1 English but Japanese stereo so the English has the issue but the Japanese does not. I sent the app logs a moment ago. The server is 3.2.70.0 The client is 15.22g The content is direct playing so there aren't transcode logs. If I enable playback correction that solves the issue, for a certain value of 'solved' but it's not ideal as I'm using a shield for direct playback. I've attached the server log and a screenshot of the media info. Emby Server Log.7z
ebr 16178 Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 We're just passing through the track to the receiver. Can you give me one of the problem files to test with? I doubt it will have an effect on this but you should update the app (unless that was a typo on the version).
Deathsquirrel 745 Posted January 26, 2018 Author Posted January 26, 2018 Sure, I'll PM you a download link. This has been happening just about forever but I'll update it too. That's the app version shown in the application settings.
Deathsquirrel 745 Posted January 26, 2018 Author Posted January 26, 2018 Ah, NM, that was a typo. App version is 1.5.34g or it has since self-updated. Is that current?
ebr 16178 Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 Yes. I get choppy audio playback from your sample. Cannot explain why. My other TrueHD items play fine and I can't see what the difference is. If I can find one, we may be able to transcode them automatically. Until then, you can use the playback correction feature to correct it. Thanks.
Deathsquirrel 745 Posted January 27, 2018 Author Posted January 27, 2018 Thanks @@ebr. If you find anything let me know. It happens across a pretty wide spectrum of anime. I'd think it was purely an authoring issue but the same content plays just fine through ET.
Jdiesel 1431 Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 I've never come across a TrueHD track that wasn't a 7.1 layout. Do you see this with other TrueHD tracks or only on these anime files?
Deathsquirrel 745 Posted January 27, 2018 Author Posted January 27, 2018 I've never come across a TrueHD track that wasn't a 7.1 layout. Do you see this with other TrueHD tracks or only on these anime files? I tested a 5.1 TrueHD traxck in a movie and didn't have the issue there. I also just tested a TV series that has 5.1 TrueHD, (Robot Chicken Season 6), and it doesn't have the issue. It's something specific to the sound encoding used on these anime titles it seems. Every Anime I own that hs 5.1 TrueHD has the issue. They're all just rips from my blu-rays.
ebr 16178 Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 I think I'll have good news for you with the next beta. Hopefully, later today.
Solution ebr 16178 Posted January 28, 2018 Solution Posted January 28, 2018 Okay, try these with 1.5.35 when you get it. Thanks. 1
Deathsquirrel 745 Posted January 29, 2018 Author Posted January 29, 2018 Okay, try these with 1.5.35 when you get it. Thanks It seems to be solved with 1.5.35g. Thanks! Out of curiosity what was the issue?
