Incorrect episode naming convention detection

Hello,

Lately I have been having an issue but have been unable to pin point it until recently.

I use a minimal naming convention with my episodes: SEE - Episode Name, IE 406 - The Haunting.

The auto organization features detect my episodes correctly, renames them, and moves them into the right specified folder. The issue is the metadata scraper.

In my above example, the episode will be detected as number 40. It then cannot grab the correct metadata and forces me to use the editor to manually specify which episode it is.

No screengrabs at the moment, but can provide more details if this is confusing.

Yea right now it just copies the file and then let's the normal scanning process read it. so if you use a convention we don't support it's not going to work. So we'd have to copy the file and create the database record at the same time, rather then having the normal scan process do it.

While we may eventually handle this, I really would recommend using a supported naming convention. If you add an episode file to your library through any other means you're going to run into the same issue unless you already have a metadata file containing the episode number.

Yeah, prior to the new auto organize feature, Media Center Master was handling my episodes. Every now and then I would get a conflict, most likely from Media Browser grabbing metadata before MCM did.

Can I request my format to be implemented? I've been using it for years and like its simplicity.

I don't think it is possible.

How do we know if 426 is Season 4 episode 26 or Season 42 episode 6 or just episode 426?

This is fair. It's just kind of a pain when I've been using this naming convention very successfully now for a number of years when using MCM and Media Browser 2 & 3. I have a lot of renaming to do, as this was supported by MCM.

In the Auto Organize section, I've set all future episodes to follow a more supported format. This should take care of the issue. When I have a bit more time, I will worry about renaming all my episodes, I'm worried about messing up watched status.

We chose to support the convention "01 - Episode One". Unfortunately it's not possible to support both 101 and 01 at the same time due to the reasons Ebr stated.

Can't MCM do the renaming for you?

Yep. I used MCM to rename the episodes to SXXEXX format last night. MCM updated the metadata, and my watched status was kept. This helped my OCD immensely.

Also, Media Browser Server processed two new episodes last night, and everything was golden!

Thanks guys for your help, once again! I'm glad I stuck with Media Browser for so long.
