Can someone share how to MCEBuddy>Auto-organize?

I have tried to set them up but I must be doing something wrong. My current setup is I have MB DVR recordings going into a folder called "Z:\TVDVR" configured in the live TV settings tab "Series recording path (optional):" box. MCEB monitors that folder an processes the files cutting out commercials, once done it copies the file to the folder called "Z:\TV Show Pre-staged" where auto-organize is setup to monitor that folder, changes the filename and moves the file to the "Z:\TV Shows folder.

Is there a better way to do this?

Thanks

JB

I don't use MCEBuddy but I believe you can skip the auto organize part and just have MCEBuddy put the file in your final destination. Emby will pick it up from there and add it to the database making it available.

Thanks for the response.
I tried that but Emby can't find the metadata based on the filename provided by the DVR which is something like "Thomas & Friends 2017-11-06 - Fire & Water". I have to manually give it the season and episode before it gets the metadata. I had it setup like that with Plex and it worked fine but Plex put the season and episode data in the filename. i.e.  "Thomas & Friends - S01xE01 - Fire & Water".

Not even MCEBuddy will grab metadata based on the filename given by MB

Thanks!

My mistake, I missed the using MB DVR part. I assumed you were using Emby's DVR. Guess maybe I'm unfamiliar with the MB DVR, can it not save the file with the Season and episode info? Or maybe MCEBuddy?

MB is just short for Emby. What does your DVR filenames look like?

Series Title S01E01 Episode Title.mkv

I have transcoding on the fly turned on, otherwise the extension I believe is .ts

I wonder why mine is not Series Title S01E01 Episode Title.mkv instead I get "Thomas & Friends 2017-11-06 - Fire & Water" for a filename.

Not sure why you aren't getting the same file name. Just a shot in the dark here. Have you checked to make sure the Series is identified correctly?

The series is corrct just not getting the season or episode numbers.

I am not totally sure what may be happening as I don't record that particular show. However, I think the Emby DVR will name the recording based on what they get from the EPG data provider that is being used.

Are you using the native Emby DVR with an HDHomerun tuner?

Are you using Schedules Direct or an XML file for the EPG data?

If you are, it may be an issue with the EPG provider not providing that information. I believe Plex uses Gracenote for their EPG data so that may be what is different.

Is this show the only one you're having an issue with?

I looked up Thomas & Friends on the TVDB website and it is listed both as "Thomas & Friends" and also as "Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends" so I don't know if that is causing a confusion as well.

I am sure one of the Devs can chime in and give a little more insight, but the above are my thoughts about it.

That may very well be the issue. I'm using Schedules Direct and all on my shows have the season and episode number info in the description.

I think you are right!!! it's the EPG data. The file is produced by Zap2xml and when I look at the a repeat episode in the guide it only has the data for title date time channel no season number or episode number data.

I would personally recommend using Schedules Direct. It's very simple to set up and a subscription is only 25.00 for the year. I think they even have a 7 days free trial if you want to set it up and see if it solves your issue.
