I just update my windows 10 pro and now I can not find emby in windows services to stratup automatically. Am I missing something or do I need to reinstall emby server?

Thanks

Emby no longer appears in Windows services. I had emby setup so it would automatically restart after my pc reboots. I justr did a search and apparently I have to download another program for this to work. All this should be built into emby like it was.

But I should not have to install another program....this should be built into emby.

Can I ask why it changed?

Basically the emby developers are switching to a new .NET runtime called .NET core which runs and is supported on a whole host of operating systems not just Windows.

They want to make the installation over ALL os's as similar as possible and dont want to be adding OS specific features in to individual builds.

The embty service was specific to Windows and since emby deveopers want to concentrate on developing emby rather than OS specific "start" mechanics it was decided to use third party service such as NSSM to control emby start/stop in windows IF people want to run it as a service.

It is a very logical decision.

You only have to setup NSSM once.

Hope this helps

Yes that helps. Thank you for answering the question. I thought someone else was going to answer but that's fine. I will disagree 1 size does not fit all but I am not a programmer, this is just my opinion.

Thanks

The outputs are actually OS specific. The source projects generally are not unless there is a specific reason for it.

Windows 10 updates have broken our Windows service in recent months and after a while you get tired of having to react to that. Let nssm worry about that so that we can focus on emby media related development.
