Just trying to troubleshoot why the new episodes of newly started started shows are not showing up in my next up section even though I've started to watch the new season.

I have 24 different Series episodes in TV\Suggestions\Next Up.  And I believe 24 is the limit.

Same for Home Screen Next Up

 Thanks for confirming

I don't know what information is needed to troubleshoot my issue so I will start by posting a few examples.

My current Next Up queue consists of 10 shows

A few series that I watch have started up this fall and I have begun to start watching new episodes as they are added.

Example 1 Modern Family where I have watched 2 out 3 episodes from season 9 however last nights episode which has yet to be watched was not populated in the next up section

Example 2 Southpark, same as above. I've watched 3 out of 4 episodes from the latest season but last night's episode was not added to the next up section.

Example 3 Channel Zero, First season is marked as watched, no episodes from the second season have been watched.

Oh and I attempted toggling them as unwatched/watched to see if I could get them to appear in the Next Up section but didn't have any luck.

Any thoughts on how to get these shows working in my "Next Up" without completely nuking my database?

i would check the custom sort title value for of all the episodes in the modern family series. make sure they are all consistent, meaning, either they are all blank or they are all specified in a consistent manner.

In the case of Modern Family some sort titles are blank and some look like "modern family - s0000000007e0000000011 - spread your wings webdl-0000000480p" is there a simple way to clear them all?

Well this explains the issue, likely due to a defect in an older version of the server. the fastest way to clear them would be some kind of bulk edit of nfo files, assuming you save to local metadata.

I do save to local nfo. Is sort title a user enter field or is it pulled from the metadata provider? I'm thinking of deleting all the nfo's and refreshing the metadata.

So I deleted all the sort title entries and it didn't fix things. I did notice that if I mark the series as watched at start marking seasons as watched the next up works correctly until I mark season 7 as watched at which point the episodes stop showing up in next up. Season 7 also happens to be the season with the messed up sort titles.

You should run a library scan after editing the nfo's.

Did you delete all your nfo files of just test on one series?  You may try something like notepad ++ to clear all sort titles in your TV Library.  When this happened to me it was only a database issue since Emby doesn't write to my xml files.  But since you use nfo and it has been written to nfo you will need to clear that field and rescan your library.

It appears to be more to it then the nfos. I tired editing, deleting, scanning the library, refreshing the metadata but nothing seems to work.Something must have happened when I migrated my install to the .Net Core builds.  What is the best way to reset all watched counts for a user?

User the multi-select option and select each library.

User the multi-select option and select each library.

Toggling watched/unwatched in the Web app does nothing. I want to reset my db and start from scratch

That is not the case. I just tested multi-select toggling watch status and it worked just fine.

I just meant it does nothing to help with my problem of certain shows not showing up in the next up section.

So even if I create a new user and mark the shows I mentioned above they do not sure up in the next up section. Shows that work on my regular account also work on my test account. I've gone through Modern Family and removed any "sort title" entries if they existed for every episode but it did not fix my problem. Now can I flush these problem shows completely from my database and start fresh with them?

Alright I managed to get everything fixed. There is what I needed to do.

1. Delete all the nfo's in the series and seasons folders.

2. Movie the entire series folder from the TV library directory

3. Refresh the library

4. Move the series folder back into the TV library directory

5. Refresh the library
