gerry.emm 10 Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 Hi everyone, I was notified this morning when I checked my server that version 3.2.31.0 was available for download; so I went ahead and installed it from within EMBY. As EMBY does, It told me I needed to restart the server, which I did. I waited for more than 15 minutes and the server failed to restart, so I closed my browser and re-opened it. EMBY did *NOT* reload properly. The gauge at the bottom gets to about 80% loaded and stops completely giving an error code as follows: "Unhandled exception: one or more errors occurred" I tried downloading the setup file and re-installing v. 3.2.31.0 but to no avail. I restored my computer to a restore point before the installation of the upgrade and it now tries to load v. 3.2.30.0 but the same thing happens. The server stops loading at about 80% and I get the same error code again. Can anyone advise what I should do now? I'd really hate to have to un-install EMBY and re-install it as I would lose all of my configuration!!! :-( Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!!! GerryEmm
ebr 16187 Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 This is more than likely caused by a plug-in. Try (at least temporarily) removing the plug-ins from the folder under your Emby Server folder and see if the server starts.
gerry.emm 10 Posted September 21, 2017 Author Posted September 21, 2017 OK, well call me stupid, but where IS the EMBY folder?
TylerV76 84 Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 (edited) Same thing has been happening on my home server since .30 was released. The only way I can get a quick restart is to close emby, restart it manually, then click restart in the dashboard immediately. Had the same issue when running the last 10 or so betas. No Plug-ins but a large library btw. Edit: I may have misunderstood at what point this happens. Mine is on a restart of the server whether its from an update or just a restart. Luke 42083 Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 hi @@gerry.emm, we're sorry to hear about this. Please attach the emby server log. you can learn how to do that here: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/739-how-to-report-a-problem/ Thanks.
gerry.emm 10 Posted September 21, 2017 Author Posted September 21, 2017 Latest Server log: and what looks like it might be an error log: server-63641601713.txt unhandled_e1be8dd1-3a2b-453e-857f-7b7382917662.txt
Solution Luke 42083 Posted September 21, 2017 Solution Posted September 21, 2017 try shutting down the server and deleting this file: C:\Users\gen_m\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\data\notifications.db See if that helps. Thanks. 1
gerry.emm 10 Posted September 21, 2017 Author Posted September 21, 2017 THAT WORKED!!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! GerryEmm THANK YOU!!!
itchykill 0 Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 This just happened to me aswell. The above solution doesn't work. I tried to play a file with idx and sub files as subtitles and I happened to see the log file just before everything crashed and it said playback couldn't continue because of unsupported subtitles. So not only does mov_text not working, it looks like idx/sub doesn't work either. I must admit, there's too much going on for me with this switch to Emby from PLEX that keeps me from enjoying this experience. Emby seems even more buggy than PLEX. Only been a few days and I get nothing but problems. And i'm unfortunately also tired of providing log files. Anyway, I can't start the server no more. Do I reinstall or what?
itchykill 0 Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 I succeeded with reinstalling and reopening the server - and then I tried to play the video file again, and it crashed again. I'll perhaps add a log file if I have the patience for it tomorrow. For tonight i'll go back to PLEX (where the file loads correctly).

ebr 16187 Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 Could definitely be related to this: System.IO.IOException: This drive is locked by BitLocker Drive Encryption. You must unlock this drive from Control Panel.
itchykill 0 Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 I doubt it since there is no connection between the file and that particular drive (which isn't part of the media library).
itchykill 0 Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 (edited) But I tried again today, and I succeeded with playing the file WITH the subtitle - if, however, I waited long enough. It took minutes (2 minutes and 31 seconds) before it began to play. I think it has something to do with the player not switching from direct stream and/or direct play to transcoding.
