Endymion 6 Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 As the title says. Under TV section, I have the "Display missing episodes within seasons" option turned off (un-checked). But yet they are displaying and I can't get them to go way. I know a lot people like that, but I don't. It's even worst now, because it has a play button on them. This started happening about 3 updates ago. I'm on 3.2.30.0 at the moment and they still will not go away. Any ideas on how to get rid of them?
Happy2Play 9784 Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 Do you have them enables in your TV Library? There are two setting for this feature.
Endymion 6 Posted August 30, 2017 Author Posted August 30, 2017 Two Settings??? I only know of one... under Library / TV what other setting is there? I've always had that turned off. They just suddenly appeared and I haven't messed with settings in quite some time.
Solution Happy2Play 9784 Posted August 30, 2017 Solution Posted August 30, 2017 (edited) You have one in Library and the ofher is in User Preferences. user icon top right-Display Edited August 30, 2017 by Happy2Play 1
Endymion 6 Posted August 30, 2017 Author Posted August 30, 2017 Thanks that did the trick (under user setting - Display). Now I 'll have to inform my family members on how to turn that off. The things is, that setting is over riding the server setting. It states in the user setting, "This must also be enabled for TV libraries in Emby Server setup." As I've said, I've always had that turned off in server settings. It just started happening about 3 or 4 updates ago. So, I think that is a minor bug. Nothing should override sever settings (admin). Anyway, thanks again, it was getting annoying being bothered on why an episode wasn't playing when it wasn't there in the first place (hasn't even aired yet).
dcook 299 Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 This was reported in the past where it would show episodes in the up next section that had not even aired yet. I thought I remember reading that this was fixed. I also have this setting disabled both in the server and user preferences, but looks like the root issue is not resolved as it does not make sense for Emby to be getting you episodes to watch that have not aired.

I don't believe any of that is relevant to what was being reported here. It does make sense to a lot of people to see both missing and future episodes but, since it is optional, you can turn it off. For clarification - the setting at the library level tells us whether or not to even go out to the providers and retrieve this information. It is defaulted off (I believe) because, for some series, this could be an awful lot of data and slow things down (think, "The Tonight Show"). The setting at the user level determines whether each user sees these items in their views. Obviously, it depends on the library level setting also being on - or, rather, having been enabled at some point in the past such that some of this data exists. In this case, I believe what happened was that your system had some of these episodes from back before we had the library setting so the user setting was causing them to display.

I've Never had it turned on in the server side. I don't know when that option was introduced in Library - TV, but I do know it was there about 6 months ago. That's when I moved everything over to my Asustor 10 bay server. I did a fresh install of Emby and I know I had that option unchecked (turned off). And when I mean fresh, I mean I didn't bring anything over from my other Emby install. It took me a week to go through the settings (an hour) and scan the library again. So once again, missing episodes was never there until just recently. My only conclusion, is one of the recent Updates has messed that up some where. I do know when I saw the issue, I checked to see if I had it unchecked in Library - TV and it was unchecked. I waited (like I normally do) for updates to see if it gets fixed. Y'all are usually pretty good on fixing issues I see come up. However, I was still having that issue after 2 to 3 updates. That's why I've asked about it. At least now, I can pass the info on to others on how to stop missing episodes from showing on there side. I just hope the sever isn't still scanning for missing episodes. That would be a BAD thing. And that would make a minor bug a Major Bug.
Endymion 6 Posted August 31, 2017 Author Posted August 31, 2017 No, I haven't done any of those things.
