My server is a VM running 2008R2 and is working great.  I'm looking at adding Live TV to it and doing some research it looks like WMC (assuming its referring to Windows Media Connect and not Windows Media Center) can be installed on 2008R2 and in theory should work.  I wanted to see if anyone has successfully gotten it working in this configuration?  I was going to pickup an HDHomeRun to get OTA channels streaming as I dropped my cable and am selling my Ceton tuner.

So my proposed design was to take my 2008R2 server with an HDHomeRun and configure MB to utilize that tuner for all clients.  I have not however seen much information on using 2008R2 on the forums or documentation so I figured I would post and see if anyone has done this before?

Thanks in advance!

Never mind - reread the ServerWMC plugin info and it specified Windows Media Center (never seen that referred to as WMC, but as MCE).  Regardless, it doesn't look like using 2008R2 is an option and I will have to built a separate VM to get the TV signal into MB.

Windows XP Media Center Edition was what is refered to as MCE. From Vista on it was named Windows Media Center, but a lot of people kept calling it MCE.

Apologies for opening an older thread, but I've searched around and haven't really found what I was looking for.

I have a similar setup except it's not a VM. I'm running MB Server on my Windows 2008r2 Server. Is there any way to do Live TV from this server OS and MB Server?

Yup, I am running live tv using NextPVR on Windows 2008R2.  I followed the directions and installation from the following link to get BDA support in the OS.  Then installed the drivers and software for the tuner I used (HDHomeRun).  NextPVR got installed afterwards like normal with no other changes to it.  The BDA support was really the only modification to get 2008R2 to work.

I didn't do the work to create that package but I was happy to find it and happy to pass it on.  Glad you got it working!  I don't think I ran into any other snags using 2008R2 other than that.
