bardmaster 17 Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 How do you tell the library to keep each part of a movie separate and distinct? For example, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has two legitimately individual movies, named Part 1 and Part 2 - this is not just 2 DVDs like you find with long movies like in the Lord of the Rings series. I don't want to trick Emby by falsely renaming each one, but would like to have each part show up separately in my movie library. Thanks for any advice!
Jdiesel 1431 Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 (edited) How are your media folders organized? Does each movie have its own folder? I have each movie in its own folder and it properly identifies Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows parts 1 and 2 automatically. If it doesn't identify the movie correctly you can then override the selection by bringing up the "Identify" menu in the web UI. Edited June 2, 2017 by Jdiesel 3
One2Go 120 Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 What I have done is including a movie.xml file with the same data and then just give the folder a different name. It will import the two different movies and then manually correct the metadata to your liking. 1
Solution Deathsquirrel 745 Posted June 2, 2017 Solution Posted June 2, 2017 (edited) Your folder structure should look like this: \\MovieShare\Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (2010)\Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (2010).mkv \\MovieShare\Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (2011)\Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (2011).mkv The scanner will recognize both as separate movies automatically. bardmaster 17 Posted June 2, 2017 Author Posted June 2, 2017 Thanks to all, I was hoping for an app-based "do not merge" option but if this is how we can do it, so be it.

Sorry I don't understand the issue. Unless it was a specific naming convention issue. I just had to manually identify "Part 2" but there is no issue having movies in the same folder. bardmaster 17 Posted June 3, 2017 Author Posted June 3, 2017 Sorry I don't understand the issue. Unless it was a specific naming convention issue. I just had to manually identify "Part 2" but there is no issue having movies in the same folder. C:\Users\Media-Test\Desktop\Video Test\Movies\Harry Potter The issue is twofold: 1) preference with regard to non-Roku playback, where the desire is for Part 2 to show up as its own distinct movie in the library, and 2) Roku playback where Part 2 is inaccessible because the code to identify this as a second video for Part 1 is not yet available - therefore if it is not in the library it can not be viewed at all via Roku.
Happy2Play 9784 Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 (edited) I guess we would have to have seen your naming scheme, because as you can see it shows both parts just fine. It shows each movie as its own. Best guess is you did not have (year) in the naming scheme. Edited June 3, 2017 by Happy2Play
