TonkaTuff 10 Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 (edited) Hi guys. I just manually updated (because I run emby in 'service mode') to emby server version 3.2.19.0. My update procedure is: stop emby service delete folder "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\System" download latest release from https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/releases extract "System" folder from downloaded "emby.windows.zip" archive to "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\" start emby service After following this procedure for v3.2.19.0 the emby service repeatedly stops with Windows event log recording "The Emby Server service terminated unexpectedly..." I tried restarting the host but this did not help. Reverting the my previous version (3.2.17.0) (by restoring the backed up 'system' folder) makes the emby service run normally again. Couple of logs attached. The host is Server 2012 R2. Cheers. TT unhandled_f03a1be3-0299-44e4-adec-b8b37148739a.txt server-63631953803.txt Edited June 1, 2017 by TonkaTuff
Luke 42086 Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 Hi, can you instead try installing the latest version from the website. Thanks. 1
scharbag 19 Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 Since 3.2.19.0, my Emby server has been shutting off unexpectedly over and over. Not sure as to why. I have re-installed from the website too.
JarvisTek 3 Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 just had this happen to my with my auto-upgrade last night. Started throwing exceptions as well. I was able to successfully install from the exe on the site and everything seems to be working again so far after a reboot.
Solution Luke 42086 Posted June 2, 2017 Solution Posted June 2, 2017 If you run from the service please use the website to run your updates just like the emby server dashboard recommends. Anything that involves directly working with zip files from GitHub is not an officially supported update method. Thanks ! 1
TonkaTuff 10 Posted June 4, 2017 Author Posted June 4, 2017 Hi, can you instead try installing the latest version from the website. Thanks. Thanks Luke, that seems to have corrected the problem. May have been a missing or outdated dependency I wasn't getting using my update procedure; I noticed a C++ install happening during the installation. Cheers TT
Kipperdawn 5 Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 Hi Everyone, I too am having issues with 3.2.19. My system is Windows 2012R2. Every time I try to start 3.2.19 as a service it crashes. I am using the "portable" version so the only way to install IS via the zip. I believe a library is not being included. When I revert back to 3.2.16 all is good. Note, I tried the beta - 3.2.19.3 - same issue. Unless there is another package that needs to be installed along with the main one, but I didn't see anything in the notes to that effect. thx in advance kp server-63632286052.txt server-63632287169.txt

The update is required for the change to Skia.
Luke 42086 Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 If running the windows service I would suggest to launch once from the tray after each update in case you need to accept any prompts. We will add this to the website instructions. Thanks.
Kipperdawn 5 Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 Thx Guys that did it... I had 2015 redistributable installled but x86 and not x64 version. Once I put that in all went well. thx kp 1
