interman 18 Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 When I update an entry in the library, sometimes, when I reach the final step in the Identify process, and click OK, the information would not update. I could tell because the little circle would only come up for a fraction of a second and the primary image would not change. very frustrating as the identify process takes a few steps. Finally looked at the log and noticed this as the error: "System.AggregateException: One or more errors occurred. ---> System.IO.IOException: The process cannot access the file 'H:\Television-Movies\Movies\Run All Night (2015) [1080p]\fanart.jpg' because it is being used by another process." So I used my file unlocker program and then the process runs. Problem is, that nothing else is running that would lock that file except EMBY, so what is going on? Why is emby locking a file that needs to be updated and how do I stop it from doing it. HELP? Don
interman 18 Posted March 23, 2017 Author Posted March 23, 2017 And again. I would say 50% of the time this happens: System.AggregateException: One or more errors occurred. ---> System.IO.IOException: The process cannot access the file 'H:\Television-Movies\Movies\Me.Before.You.2016.HC.HDRip.XviD.AC3-EVO\fanart.jpg' because it is being used by another process. I cannot deduce why it happens or what triggers it. Don
ebr 16195 Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 Is H: a local drive or a mapped network drive? If it is a mapped drive, you might try changing its reference to a UNC path. May not make a difference but could solve other issues even if it doesn't.
interman 18 Posted March 23, 2017 Author Posted March 23, 2017 Thank you so much for the reply. The H Drive is local to the server running EMBY. You did not ask, but I get the same problem whether I am working on the server directly, working on a client on the network, or working on a client on the internet (from my office). Doesn't happen all the time. But enough to be frustrating. I don't think it is a file ownership or permissions thing, as when I use the "file Unlocker" program I have, it then works. So it is something with EMBY locking the file for some reason and not realizing that it is locked by itself. Seems to be focused on this one file. Keep the ideas coming.
ebr 16195 Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 Does your file unlocker program happen to show you the process that has the file locked?
interman 18 Posted March 23, 2017 Author Posted March 23, 2017 No. It says it is not locked, but I hit the unlock button anyway. This makes me think it is program specific, not windows, but now I am stretching my technical knowledge. If you want me to test something, let me know. Or send the entire log. Don

interman 18 Posted March 23, 2017 Author Posted March 23, 2017 OK. It says that MediaBrowser.Server/application.exe has the file locked. Does that help? Don
