Video quality settings only show 1 option

For some reason when I play video files the only option it shows me is the maximum quality setting from my playback settings. For example if I set the maximum to 720p 3mbps, that's the only quality the video will stream at. When i click on the gear icon it doesn't even list other options.

Note: this is the Max streaming bit rate, not Internet streaming bit rate limit. I understand why no higher options are showing up but why aren't there lower quality options? They were there before.

While I'm talking about the settings, what is the difference between the settings in Settings>Playback>Max Streaming bit rate, and Manage Server>Playback>Streaming>Internet Streaming bit rate limit. Is one for local and the other for remote? If so why are they in different places. If not, what's the difference?

Hmm. This should show more quality options. Can you show a screenshot of what is available?

Please note, if this is a mobile device, the quality list is scroll-able via swiping your finger.

Did you try clicking the quality setting?

Instead of the gear opening all the options, you have to click the gear to see what quality is being used then quality to adjust it to something else.

WOOOOOOOW. Massive face palm.

I'm opening the emby web interface from my laptop and desktop and for some reason they are both different.

Both are on Vivaldi, desktop is W10 1080p, Laptop is W8 900p. The desktop has the audio, subtitle, and quality settings on the top, the laptop has them all on the bottom like in the picture I posted earlier. The desktop when I click on the gear icon lists all the quality options, the laptop version needs me to click on quality to change it.

Is this a difference because of the resolution or OS? (I think it's resolution since it's running through the browser OS shouldn't really matter as much). I prefer the UI when everything is at the bottom, is there a way to change it?

That is the old design. It looks like you must have a separate server installation on the desktop and it hasn't been updated.

I only have 1 server set up, I'm accessing the same one from both computers. All the devices are also on the same network.

The only difference is that from the desktop I was directly accessing the server through the local IP address, but on the laptop I was using Emby Connect. Would that make a difference on the interfaces?

Yes, Emby Connect is the difference as it is always the newest server version.  Your server log shows you are on 3.1.0 and is a outdated build.

Sorry I don't quite understand. I thought Emby Connect was just a way to access my own server without having to deal with IP Addresses and DNS. How does Emby Connect act as a server and change the interface?

I don't know how it works exactly, but it interfaces with your server but uses a different server version (currently v3.2.7.3).

You can see it in Active devices.
