Copy User Watch Status

Wanted to see if there was a way to copy over my watch status to a new user.

I currently have two users, User1 (Movies and TV Shows), User2 (Anime Movies and Anime Shows) which I use to show different content depending on who you login as.

With trying out the Kodi addon I am creating a single user (User3) that has access to everything but realised afterwards that it wont have any of the watch status from my other two users.

Is there any way for me to copy over my watch history from User1 and User2 to User3?

The Server Configuration Backup plugin allows you to do this.

Hi Guys,

This is exactly what I'm trying to do, so different users have their own watch status & keep track of their own shows etc. BUT I can't lose all that status from the current user.

I have installed the backup plugin & backed up immediately.

Restored using the "Playstates, favourites, resume etc" option, from the user profile "admin" into the new user...

(Interestingly, when choosing "none" for the options (so only the profile gets restores) the background goes black, like it's a different theme...)

Didn't work. At. All.

Done several times, manually restarted Emby, so I don't get what's not happening. The above post says it will. The restore function says it will, but it doesn't.

What am I doing wrong do you think?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, can you take a screen shot of your settings right before you try to do the restore?

Hi Cayars,

Sorry for the delay, got tied up in too many work things.

I'm not 100% sure I understand what you're trying to get from me, but here's the answer to my interpretation of it:

I have tried with & without ticking various boxes, and haven't got it right yet, so I'm open to suggestions.

Many thanks in advance.

That is showing you doing a restore of the LivingRoom user to the admin account.

Is that what you wanted to do?

Hahahahaha, oops!

No that's exactly the opposite of what I wanted, I'm guessing that you worked that out! Thanks.

It's a bit short on documentation, so I just used the "intuitive" approach & guessed what looked convincing.

Luckily it didn't work because the admin user's profile was unchanged.

I have run up another server & restored a recent backup. It seems to have all the users, which is good.

I have tried the opposite of the above screenshot, selected "admin" in the left-most box, and then selected "livingroom" from the dropdown list next to it. Still didn't work. FamilyRoom still has the same home screen layout as before the restore and same "library order" as before.

It hasn't finished scanning the library yet, so I'll try again tomorrow.

Is there any documentation on what Backup actually backs up? Clearly not the library, but just the config?

The original need was to stop using the global "admin" user, and make users for each TV room, and save the "episodes watched" data into one of them, i.e. LivingRoom, based on a post I read in this forum.

Update with results to follow in a day or two.

If you restore to a different server you will restore user watched status, libs and things they have access to but it's a new server.

Being a new server the user will need to configure the home screen for that new server.
