lot of 404 errors and port mapping errors.  Did not use emby at all over the past 48 hrs.  But the logs are full of these?  I am trying to decipher my malformed data issues with playing some, not all, of my locally stored trailers in the roku beta and see all of these not related errors in the logs.

can some one take a peek and see if they can explain what is going on?

thanks in advance!

(other than the trailer issue and a search issue i have not seen anything else being a problem)

Are you actually using port mapping?  If you are getting errors is port mapping enabled on your router?

I have port 8096 (TCP) forwarding to my server.  Dont recall why i had to do that many versions ago.  Running a static local IP number so probably dont need that route in there anymore.  Think that is the port mapping error?

If this is actually a port mapping error (i wasn't sure) i see the problem port is 5431?

Since you manually forwarded the port then just disable port mapping.  Dashboard-Advanced-Host-Enable automatic port mapping

I personally prefer to forward ports myself.  But most modern routers have a upnp option to turn on so apps can automatically port map.  It is usually disabled by default on the router and Emby has its enabled by default.  So users get errors in the log do to this.

Is there a way to put the "Enable automatic port mapping" in the setup process?  Then again does the common user ever know what it is for?

Every additional step added to the setup process will only increase the number of people to give up and bail, so we have to choose wisely.

Then shouldn't this option be disabled by default?

Thanks!  Will watch the logs.  Disabled auto port mapping (never even thought about it when i was setting up the server this time).  New issue but will start a new thread...

Thanks again.  Will mark this as resolved after i look at the logs in the morning.

How many more "I can't get to my Emby server from the internet" posts do you think we'd have out here if we did that?  ;)

Good day,

I agree with Ebr here, best to leave it as it is, advanced users sure will know where to find things.

My best

I know every router I have ever owned the upnp option is off by default.  And not that the error is an issue but almost ever log that is posted has this error in it.

On Asus it is not disabled by default.

I guess things could have changed in recent years as I haven't gotten a new router in 3-4 years.  But it is still funny googling UPNP safety and getting messages with FBI warning in them on the safety of UPNP.
