drjonz 4 Posted December 26, 2016 Posted December 26, 2016 This seemed to start with Emby Server 3.1, but I'm not sure. But suddenly any new move I drop into my library only shows BLURAY as a transcode type. But for all movies prior to this they show with things like HD Audio: Now does this actually matter? The answer is yes. Bluray only will still play fine locally on the Emby Server box via Emby Theater. But they don't play via Roku. Just to make really sure it wasn't some sort of corruption on my part, I blew away my entire Windows profile and reinstalled Emby Server fresh. I recreated my libraries. And now all movies show with BLURAY only - none show H264\5.1\DTS\DTS-HD MA\etc. Nothing plays over Roku any longer - they see the film, start to transcode, then just give up. Ideas?
Solution Luke 42080 Posted December 26, 2016 Solution Posted December 26, 2016 Hi, this is resolved for the next release, although you will need to refresh affected titles manually. keep in mind that transcoding of folder rips to Roku is something we only consider experimental anyway. thanks ! 1
drjonz 4 Posted December 26, 2016 Author Posted December 26, 2016 Thanks for the fast reply - that will help get the wife off my back as the kids can't watch movies upstairs. Never knew it was experimental. It does work (though not the greatest since it all has to be transcoded back to stereo for the crappy Roku) but it has worked and is pretty nice to have. Is there another box that is supported? Perhaps the Amazon Fire?
Luke 42080 Posted December 26, 2016 Posted December 26, 2016 it is fully supported on htpc apps such as Emby Theater. On any app where it requires transcoding, that's when it is considered experimental.
drjonz 4 Posted December 27, 2016 Author Posted December 27, 2016 Started watching a movie with the wife and noticed I couldn't resume or fast forward (with this goofy BLURAY only listing). Knowing a fix was in the works, I reinstalled the server but using the beta channel instead - blasting my library again and putting it back allowed it to import correct and no more BLURAY only - which also meant I could fast forward again to the middle of the film and resume watching it. So I can verify that the coming fix works great. Streaming is back too.
drjonz 4 Posted September 1, 2017 Author Posted September 1, 2017 After a total wipe and load of fresh emby Server 3.2.30.0, I now have this issue back again.
Luke 42080 Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 @@drjonz you're saying there's no media info?
drjonz 4 Posted September 1, 2017 Author Posted September 1, 2017 Correct, just like my initial images above, I just copied over a new movie to a library and it simply shows BLURAY but no coding like H264 or DTS or anything. And it won't play via web or Roku.
Luke 42080 Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Please attach the information requested in how to report a problem. thanks !
drjonz 4 Posted September 1, 2017 Author Posted September 1, 2017 Sorry, thought this was a known issue. Images above are still showing my issue, but I'm attaching the latest logs trying to view the newly added Long Hot Summer.
ebr 16185 Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Hi. There is no log attached but we'd need to see one from a refresh of the item as opposed to viewing it. Thanks.
drjonz 4 Posted September 2, 2017 Author Posted September 2, 2017 Huh, so get this. I simply rebooted the server and the film plays fine locally, over the web, and on Roku. It still displays only the BLURAY tag and nothing more, but it plays. OK, and now I just hit "refresh metadata" and all the encoding stuff is listed fine. In other words, a stupid, obvious reboot fixed the issue.
Luke 42080 Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 Thanks for the feedback. I think the missing media info was actually caused by the previous release of the server where it also wasn't playing them at all.
