jdfisher 2 Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 (edited) I have an issue that has been ignored and unfixed for several months now. I am to the point of just wiping out my entire setup and starting over again. The main thing that I don't want to have to try to redo manually is my series for recording as not all shows are airing now, and I will have to try to remember to setup them up again when they are. Is there a way to backup and restore ONLY what I have setup to record? Edited November 23, 2016 by jdfisher
Luke 42080 Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 Hi @@jdfisher, we don't currently back this up but I agree it's something we should get added. For now you can backup the folder /data/livetv which is underneath the server's program data folder. What issue are you referring to that has been ignored? 1
jdfisher 2 Posted November 27, 2016 Author Posted November 27, 2016 Is there a way that I am missing to not have it create the sub folders for recording? I.E. Series, Movies I am trying to just have it record straight into my Shows folder to merge with my existing media. When I point it to that folder, it still creates the series folder and then the show again under that. Example: I have set Series Recording Path: D:\Shows It then Records to D:\Shows\Series\*showname* I want it to record to D:\Shows\*showname*
Luke 42080 Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 Hi, have you explored live tv settings where you can set different recording paths for movies, series, etc?
jdfisher 2 Posted November 27, 2016 Author Posted November 27, 2016 Yes, here is how I currently have it setup
Luke 42080 Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 And what is the problem that you're experiencing?
jdfisher 2 Posted November 27, 2016 Author Posted November 27, 2016 It still puts the series sub folder in. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
Luke 42080 Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 Or rather, if you think these settings are not being respected, then please discuss a specific example. thanks !
jdfisher 2 Posted November 27, 2016 Author Posted November 27, 2016 Saturday Night live recorded last night. It put it in D:\Shows\Series\Saturday Night Live instead of D:\Shows\Saturday Night Live Maybe it's due to having the default recording folder as D:\Shows also? I can try changing it to a different directory.
jdfisher 2 Posted November 27, 2016 Author Posted November 27, 2016 (edited) Changing the Default recording path to a different directory from the Series Recording path appears to have taken care of the issue. Edited November 27, 2016 by jdfisher
Luke 42080 Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 since it looks like you might be running the beta you'll have to locate livetv.xml config file underneath the server's program data folder and manually disable the option to place recordings into sub-folders. 1
jdfisher 2 Posted December 16, 2016 Author Posted December 16, 2016 Ever since I have set the series recording to my shows folder, which is it's own library, it has messed with emby classic. In emby classic it doesn't show the correct posters and has the show incorrect. Typically it is the show of the latest recording. Do I need to post this in a different forum? Emby Roku does not show these symptoms.
Luke 42080 Posted December 16, 2016 Posted December 16, 2016 Hi, can you discuss some examples in detail? Does everything look normal in the Emby web app?
jdfisher 2 Posted December 16, 2016 Author Posted December 16, 2016 In the previous screen shot, the show on the far left is actually "Regular Show" but the cover art is for Vikings. If I go into the show itself, it will still say that it's Vikings but the episode name will be of the actual show in this example "Regular Show - Christmas In Space" this will happen will all the shows that are recorded, anything that was downloaded and organized is not affected. The cover art and the show that it displays I believe is the latest recorded show and it will change for all of them with the next recording. This started happening when I set the Series Recording path to the shows folder as previously discussed in this thread. Everything in the web app is normal and same for Roku app. The only place that I am seeing this is in Emby Classic. In metadata manager, it doesn't have much information, it doesn't know the season or episode numbers so it's pretty empty on that part. That might be related to the guide info that I started using awhile back. I moved away from Schedule Direct and doing xml tv.
ebr 16185 Posted December 16, 2016 Posted December 16, 2016 The problem is probably the structure of the files (or lack of it) as EMC is looking for season and series images and finding something in the parent folder (best guess).
Solution jdfisher 2 Posted December 17, 2016 Author Solution Posted December 17, 2016 (edited) Since my guide data didn't include season and episode number it was just putting the recorded show in the root folder of the show. I changed my xml tv source and it now includes season and episode numbers, I renamed and manually organized the existing episodes and all seems to be well now. Thank you for the insight.
